Library’s summer plans are already under way

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Moultrie-Colquitt County Library System kicked off its summer reading programs May 1, and it has announced a variety of shows for children and teens through the rest of the summer.

The library sponsors two reading programs, one for children and one for tweens and teens. Both run May 1-July 28. Sign up for the age-appropriate program at the Moultrie Library, bookmobile or Doerun Library, then read and log your books to win a prize.

Many of the shows and activities that are planned for the summer fit for children of any age, but some are split with dates for younger kids and other dates for tweens and teens.

• Animal Tales Live animal Show: “Animal Architects.” Show will be held June 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Moultrie Library; at 3:30 p.m. at the Ryce Community Center; and at 5 p.m. at the Doerun Library.

• Dr. Magical Balloons: “Fun Time Balloon Builder Show.” Show will be held June 12 at 11 a.m. at the Moultrie Library and at 3 p.m. at the Ryce Community Center.

• Panacea SeaMobile will be at Main Street Park 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. June 19.

• The Spoon Man will perform June 27 at 11 a.m. at Main Street Park and at 3 p.m. at the Ryce Community Center.

• “Construction Junction,” which combines a live actor with digital gaming, music, magic and animation, will be held July 12 at 10 a.m. at the Moultrie Library and 4 p.m. at the Ryce Community Center.

• Tracy Tales, storyteller: “Building Stories Together.” Show will be July 19 at 11 a.m. at the Doerun Library and 2:30 p.m. at the Moultrie Library.

• Doc Atoms: “Explosive Science Show.” Show will be July 28 at 11 a.m. in the Moultrie Library and at 3 p.m. at the Ryce Community Center.

• WiiU Game Time. The library will offer fun, educational games, but space is limited. Children ages 5-8 can play at 2 p.m. June 7 and July 11, while those ages 9-14 can play at 2 p.m. June 21 and July 18. Call 985-6540 to reserve your place.

• Lego Builders. Call 985-6540 to reserve a place. Children ages 5-8 can play at 2 p.m. June 9 and 23 and July 21. Children ages 9-14 can play at 2 p.m. June 16 and 30 and July 14.

• Family board games require adult participation. Children of ages 5-14 can play at 10 a.m. June 7 and 21 and at 2 p.m. July 25.

• Storytimes. Toddler storytimes for ages 2-4 will be 10 a.m. June 6 and 20 and July 11 and 25 at the Moultrie Library. Children storytimes for ages 5-8 will be 10:30 a.m. June 8 and 15 and July 13 and 20 at the Moultrie Library. Storytimes will also be held at the Doerun Library at 2:30 p.m. June 8, 22 and 29 and July 13 and 20.
