Gas prices creep down in Lowndes

VALDOSTA, Ga. — Gas prices slipped a little in Lowndes County during the past week.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas Sunday in Valdosta was $2.16, down by two cents from a week earlier, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

The lowest price in the city Sunday was $2.04 at a store on U.S. 84, while the highest was $2.59 at a North Patterson Street retailer, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com.

There were no retailers listed by gasbuddy as offering fuel for less than $2 a gallon Sunday in Valdosta.

Nationally, the average price for gasoline Sunday was $2.29, unchanged in a week, while average price in Georgia was $2.20, rising two cents from the previous Sunday, AAA said.

In Friday market action, benchmark U.S. crude oil fell 46 cents to $53.99 a barrel in New York. Brent crude, the standard for pricing international oils, fell 59 cents, or 1 percent, to $55.99 a barrel in London.
