Colquitt County girls golf going to state
Beating the state qualifying threshold by 31 strokes, the Colquitt County High girls golf team won the Class 7A Area 1 tournament Monday at Kinderlou in Valdosta. This tournament has also served as the ‘Region 1-7A’ championship, which was won by Lady Packers Cate Tyler, Madison Willis, Chloe Howell and Sadie Norman. The team score – based on three players’ rounds – was 269, 300 being the qualifying score for a team to play in the GHSA girls 7A championship May 20-21 at Chimney Oaks Golf Club in Homer.
In the boys Area 1 tournament, defending Class 7A champion Tanner Brown of the Packers earned a chance to defend with a round of 74 Monday at Kinderlou. He will play May 20-21, the boys 7A event at Hamilton Mills Golf Club in Dacula.
