Shoplifting suspect at Walmart nabbed with 17 items

An accused shoplifter who managed to conceal 17 pieces of merchandise in his clothing on Tuesday was arrested after being detained by store personnel.

Anthony Lorenzo Giddens, 31, Moultrie, was charged with theft by shoplifting.

Police said that when Giddens was detained at Walmart, 641 Veterans Parkway S., he had 17 items of merchandise concealed inside his jacket and shorts. The merchandise was valued at $56.44.

• Sheila Maria Clements, 46, 207 Dogwood Drive, was charged Tuesday with probation violation.

Thefts

Moultrie Police

• Moshiiur Rahman, North Main Beach, Fla., reported the theft of a laptop computer and case.

Rahman told police that he left the case on top of his car in the 1300 block of Veterans Parkway and drove away.

When he returned the case was not there.

Sheriff’s Office

• Tim Beason, 100 block Flint Drive, reported Tuesday the theft of metal valued at $1,033.

• Blakelee Brandon, Moultrie, reported Monday the theft of an Apple iPhone 4 and $85 from an unsecured area in a locker room at Colquitt County High, 1800 Park Ave.

Property damage

Moultrie Police

• George Dixon, 1000 block Fifth Avenue Southeast, reported Monday that a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer was damaged overnight.

Dixon told police that when he went to his car he found it had been scratched all over.

• Abby Evans, Moultrie, reported Tuesday that the mirror was broken off a 2004 Pontiac Vibe parked at R.B. Wright Middle school, 1803 Second St. S.E.

• Thomas Laseter, Moultrie, reported finding the locks off two storage units in the 500 block of 26th Avenue Southeast.

Nothing apparently was stolen, police said.

• Martin Goldstein, Moultrie, reported Monday that someone fraudulently filed a tax return using his identity.
