A Norman Park man recently beaten so severely that he required surgical repair of his face was assaulted over $10 that an acquaintance owed him for a grill, authorities said.
On Thursday, the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest, charging Raheem Jadon McBride, 33, 978 Woodmen Road, with aggravated battery.
On the night of July 31, Valley Wright reported on Monday, her husband Michael, 32, went to McBride’s residence to ask for the $10.
“Apparently they had made a transaction of $30 over a grill,” sheriff’s Inv. Chris Robinson said Friday. “He gave him $20 at the time and owed him $10.”
When Wright went to McBride’s at about 9:30 p.m. that night McBride apparently went berserk, unleashing a beating that caused extensive injuries to Wright, he said.
“He had severe facial injury,” Robinson said. “He was transported by ambulance to Macon and had to have facial reconstruction surgery.”
