CCHS alumni to compete at National FFA Convention

Colquitt County FFA continues to have award winning student competitors. The National FFA Organization has announced national finalists, and Colquitt County has three 2013 graduates among those vying for a national title in their respective areas of expertise.

Anna Hartley will compete for the National FFA Proficiency Award in Food Science and Technology

This award is sponsored by Cargill, as a special project of the National FFA Foundation. Hartley is the daughter of Sheila and Ricky Hartley.

Ben Hegwood Jr. will compete for the National FFA Proficiency Award in Agricultural Sales

This award is sponsored by Fastenal and Vigortone Ag Products, as a special project of the National FFA Foundation. Hegwood is the son of Monteia and Ben Hegwood.

Jonathan Vanvlake Mobley will compete for the National FFA Proficiency Award in Entrepreneurship/Placement

This award is sponsored by DuPont Company, as a special project of the National FFA Foundation. Mobley is the son of Torina and Mike Mobley.

 The proficiency awards recognize outstanding student achievement in agribusiness gained through establishment of new business, working for an existing company, or otherwise gaining hands-on career experience. There are 49 proficiency program areas FFA members can participate in to develop valuable experience and leadership skill at the local, state, and national levels.

 In recognition of being a finalist, each of them will receive a plaque and $500. The national winner in each category will receive an addition plaque and $500 during a special ceremony at the National FFA convention in Louisville, Ky., in October.
