Weekend crime: 19 arrests, $9,000 in thefts

A Colquitt County man faces numerous charges, including driving under the influence, in a hit-and-run accident that damaged a parked vehicle early Saturday morning, the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office said.

Christopher Jake McMurphy was arrested at about 6 a.m. Saturday while walking along Indian Lake Drive, an hour and a half after a collision was reported in the 200 block of Seminole Drive. Witnesses said that McMurphy parked his damaged vehicle at a relative’s house and left on foot.

Lucas Andrew Miller, 200 block of Seminole Drive, reported hearing the screeching of tires outside his residence at about 4:30 a.m. and when he investigated saw that a neighbor’s vehicle had been hit.

Sheriff’s reports said that McMurphy allegedly hit a 2010 GMC Acadia belonging to Tammy Gregory and left the scene.

McMurphy, 21, was charged with driving under the influence, striking an unattended vehicle, failure to report an accident, pedestrian under the influence, open container in vehicle and driving on the wrong side of the road.

In other arrests:

• Brittany Nicole Hancock, 22, 596 Bonnie Tuck Road, was charged Friday with failure to appear.

• Juan Ramirez Carlos, 30, 600 Tree Farm Road, was charged Saturday with driving without a license and open container in vehicle.

• Fidel Aguilar, 27, 469 Pine Tree Lane, Albany, was charged Friday with open container in vehicle.

• Arturo Galvan, 33, 806 Circle Road Lot 2, was charged Sunday with failure to stop for a stop sign and driving while unlicensed.

• Hector Alonso Sanchez, 27, 177  Cherry Ave., was charged Thursday with driving under the influence, driving without a license and failure to maintain lane.

• Samuel Galindo-Ortiz, 27, 561 Roundtree Bridge Road, Norman Park, was charged Saturday with driving without a license, open container in vehicle and failure to drive within a single lane.

Moultrie Police Department

• Jorge Ramirez, 34, 302 Tallokas St., was charged Sunday with driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane and no driver’s license. Cesar Gonzalez, 23, Eusebio Santos Cruz, 47, and Euzo Posados, 32, all of 284 Tallokas St., were each charged with open container.

• Sheila Yvonne Collins, 42, 918 First Ave. S.W., was charged Saturday with probation violation.

• Ruperto Cacho-Leon, 37, 166 Dean Matthews Road, was charged Saturday with no driver’s license.

• Richard Hayes, 45, 131 10th St. S.W., was charged Sunday with probation violation.

• Elizabeth Bledsoe, 41, and Darrell Lamar Johnson, 52, both of 522 Apt. 1 27th St. S.E., were each charged Sunday with simple battery.

• Jermaine Daniels, 33, 618 Fourth Court N.W. Apt. B, was charged Sunday with probation violation.

• Marvin Lee Roberts, 46, 314 Fourth Ave. N.W., was charged Saturday with probation violation.

• Wandell Clayton Hawkins Jr., 1683 County Line Road, Doerun, was charged Friday with probation violation.

• Christopher James Troutman, 23, 1800 Pine Circle, was charged Friday with probation violation.

• Ozzie Neri Martin, 23, 707 Sumner Road Lot D, was charged Saturday with battery and obstruction.

• Jose Manuel Vega, 25, 612 Country Circle, was charged Saturday with battery.

Doerun Police Department

• Vanessa Monique Lawson, 26, 201 W. Union Circle, Doerun, was charged Friday with contempt of court.

Georgia State Patrol

• Michael Wayne Harris, 21, 710 E. Union St., Doerun, was charged Sunday with no insurance, expired vehicle tag or decal and defective equipment.

Thefts

Moultrie Police Department

• Colquitt County Solid Waste, 1320 N. Main St., reported Monday the theft of a Pro Link 9000 diagnostic check computer valued at $2,500 and a disc valued at $1,000.

• Uniform Outlet, 1401 S. Main St., reported Friday the theft of $42 in change and that a door glass was broken, causing $300 in damage.

• Raymond Herndon, 300 block Fifth Avenue Southeast, reported Friday the theft of a Craftsman jig saw, Dewalt one-half inch impact wrench, battery charger and drill wit ha total value of $240.

• Wy’Shauna Angelique Allen, Moultrie, reported Saturday the theft of a window air conditioner valued at $50.

• Ethel Mongtomery, Adel, reported Sunday that a purse she left at a restaurant in the 400 block of North Veterans Parkway was stolen. Stolen were a driver’s license, Social Security card, Medicaid and Medicare cards and $460 in cash.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

• Ella Jackson, 700 block Moye Road, Norman Park, reported Sunday the theft of hydrocodone pills.

• Cheryl McCoy, 1100 block U.S. Highway 319, reported Sunday the theft of an outside air conditioning unit valued at $3,000.

• Jose Ramirez, 200 block Circle Road, reported Friday the theft of a Dewalt air compressor from Iglesia Hererencia Church, 2906 Ga. Hwy. 37 East.

Assaults

Moultrie Police Department

• Kiara Ponder, Moultrie, reported Sunday that a male acquaintance grabbed here and pushed her down during an argument in the 200 block of Seventh Street Northwest and also made threats.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

• Kimberly Huston, 100 block Cherry Street, reported Sunday that a male acquaintance kicked her in the leg and threatened a 14-year-old boy during an incident on Tillman Road.

• Tamara Renee Folsom, 400 block U.S. Highway 319 North, reported Sunday that a male acquaintance assaulted her.

Property damage

Moultrie Police Department

• John Bent, 1500 block First Avenue Northeast, reported Friday that the hood and sides of a 2002 Ford Escape belonging to Bridgett Reynolds had been spray painted. Damage was estimated at $2,000.

• Cooper and Sons Construction, 714 Fourth Ave. N.E., reported Saturday that an office window had been broken, with damage estimated at $200.

• Latika Green, 400 block 10th Avenue Southeast, reported Sunday a 1998 Honda Civic parked outside her residence was struck overnight by another vehicle.

• Nitish Wallace, 400 block Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, reported Sunday that a male acquaintance kicked her door in an attempt to get inside her apartment.

Counterfeit money

Moultrie Police Department

• Oxley’s, 501 Veterans Parkway, reported Saturday that a customer tried to make a purchase using a counterfeit $50 bill.
