Mary S. Holland

AMERICUS — Mary S. Holland, 86, of Americus, formerly of Lakeland, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Magnolia Manor in Americus.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 13, at the Harrell-Faircloth Chapel with the Rev. Roger Benton officiating. Burial will be in Hartsfield Cemetery.

Born July 26, 1917, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Holland was the daughter of the late J.K. Sims and Annie Belle Rowell Sims. She was a retired Lanier County Welfare Director and was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmette Holland, and three brothers, J.K. Sims Jr., Jack Sims and Billy Sims.

Survivors include a sister, Ruth Wingate of Moultrie, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Jessie May Lewis

CAIRO — Mrs. Jessie May Lewis, 82, of Cairo died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Brownwood Nursing Home.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Strong Funeral Home with Brother Mickey Baker officiating. Burial will be in Strong Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be Hartzell Hayes, Calvin Wilson, Jerry Ward, Garland Kitchens, Edward Mills and Melvin Smith.

Born July 14, 1921, in Grady County, Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late Jessie and Minnie Rosebud. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Lewis.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Lee of Tampa, Fla., Tommy Lewis of Conyers and Johnny Lewis (Sylvia) of Moultrie; daughters, Dorothy Jackson of Philadelphia, Pa., Shirley Lewis of Albany, Viriginia Daniels of Albany and Evelyn Ford of Miami, Fla.; two sister, Jessie Gordon and Verdene Gurly, both of Cairo; grandchildren, Michael Jackson, Tony Lewis, Ricky Daniels, Hubert Micken, LaNorris Lewis, Billy Lewis, Wanda Lewis, Tangela Hinson, Jermaine Lewis, Jarvis Lewis, Erica Lewis, Karon Sanders, Kavena Sanders and Katrina Sutton; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will meet at the SWGA Community Action Council dining room following the burial.
