Clifton Leo Russell

MOULTRIE — Clifton Leo Russell, 90, of Moultrie died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 22, at Kingwood Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Kicklighter and Jimmy Albritton. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ed Best, Gene Duncan, Floyd Crosby, Grady Saunders, James O’Kelly, Earnest Strange and Jerry Tillman.

Born Aug. 4, 1911, in Colquitt County, Mr. Russell was the son of the late Mollie Kelly Russell and John David Russell. He was the owner of a furniture company, where his customers knew him as Mr. Homes, and an Observer route carrier. Mr. Russell was a charter member of Kingwood Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was a Gideon and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine Tompkins Russell of Moultrie; a son, David Russell and wife Elaine of Moultrie; a foster son, Anthony Kirkland of Marietta; daughters, Linda R. Stripling and husband Donnie, Faye R. Griner and husband Donnie, and Maxie Russell, all of Moultrie; brothers, William Russell of Suwannee, Fla. and Archie Russell of Moultrie; a sister, Vaudell Hancock of Moultrie; four grandchildren, Brad, Drew, and Ashley Stripling, Jacob Russell; and four stepgrandchildren, Melissa Mercer, Kevin Griner, Russell Barton and Sam Barton.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

The family may be contacted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Stripling, 279 Connell Road, Moultrie.

Marion Harvey Bryant

MEIGS — Marion Harvey Bryant, 83, of Meigs died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 22, at Zion Grove Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Mark Griffis and Ricky Griner officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terrell Stewart, Josh Stewart, Nathan Ireland, Craig Ireland, Aaron Ireland and special pallbearer Stan Wright.

Born May 24, 1918, in Colquitt County, Mr. Bryant was the son of the late Mamie Butler Bryant and Harvey Bryant. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Bryant was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars (Moultrie) Smith Spence American Legion Post 144. He was a member of Zion Grove Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Ruth Bryant of Meigs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Terry O. Stewart of Cotton, Mazie and Harvey G. Ireland Jr. of Meigs; and five grandsons, Terrell Stewart, Josh Stewart, Nathan Ireland, Craig Ireland and Aaron Ireland.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Maude Thompson Childers

BROOKS COUNTY — Maude Thompson Childers, 86, of Brooks County died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at her daughter’s residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 22, at Morrison Baptist Church with the Revs. Douglas Mitchell and Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Janell Tillman will be the pianist. She will play Mrs. Childers’ favorite song, “Bringing in the Sheaves.” Mrs. Childers’ son, Wilbur Lynn, will sing in her memory “In the Garden.” Her grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Born March 3, 1916, in Brooks County, Mrs. Childers was the daughter of the late Archie and Bessie Thompson. She was a homemaker, a member of Morrison Baptist Church and of the Pebble Hill Community.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, E.L. Childers Jr.; three grandsons, Edgar Frank Childers, Michael Paul Childers and Herbie Connell; and a son-in-law, Mikell Touchton.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Gerald Hallford of Adel, Edna and Herbert Connell of Moultrie and Ann Touchton of Barney; three sons and daughters-in-law, Noel and Nancy Childers of Barney, Wilbur Lynn and Sarah Childers of Huntsville, Texas, and William (Buckshot) and Ingrid Childers of Quitman; nine grandchildren, Cynthia and





Timothy Wright of Houston, Texas, Glenn and Leslie Hallford of Bartlett, Tenn., Kurt Childers of Barney, Jeanny and Ken Rivet of Ramstein A.F.B. Germany, Nikki and Marcus Sapp of Barney, Ted Childers of Huntsville, Texas, Steve and Mary Jones of Garfield; five great-grandchildren, Amanda and Megan Rivet, Cortnee, Ashlynn and Hayley Newton; and a sister, Claudia Howell of Tallahassee, Fla.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
