Helen Miller Williams

TUCKER — Helen Miller Williams, 89, of Tucker, formerly of Moultrie, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Briarwood Nursing Center in Tucker.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church with burial at Westview Cemetery. The Rev. Hugh Ward will officiate.

Mrs. Williams was born Oct. 26, 1912, in Arlington, Texas, daughter of Augustus T. Williams and Maud Duckett Miller. She was a graduate of the Grady School of Nursing in Atlanta. She was the head nurse in the emergency room at Vereen Memorial Hospital and the director of nursing at a local nursing home for many years before moving to Tucker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Moultrie, was president of the local Parent Teacher Association and was active in education projects with the local school system.

She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Dr. Robert E. Stegall and Tom G. Williams; and by two brothers, Dr. Augustus T. Miller Jr. and William R. Miller.

Survivors include two sons, Robert M. Stegall and wife Judy of Lawrenceville and Jack Stegall and wife Tina of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Susan S. Turner and husband Terry of Charlottesville, Va.; a stepdaughter, Annette W. Crumpton and husband John Duke of Wilmington, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.

Martha Missouri Brumblow Hancock

MOULTRIE — Martha Missouri Brumblow Hancock, 81, of Woodlands at Cobblestone, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. John D. Hancock will officiate. Casketbearers will be J.I. Carroll, Jerry Carroll, W.T. Marshall, Shannon Hancock, Richard Hancock and Walton Hancock.

Mrs. Hancock was born June 20, 1921, in Worth County to the late Doshua Massey Brumblow and the late George W. Brumblow. She was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walton Cecil Hancock, and one son, Dalton Hancock.

Survivors include one son, Cecil W. Hancock of Moultrie; two daughters, Rebecca H. Worrell of Cartersville and Patsy H. Flowers of Moultrie; three sisters, Della Mae Humphrey of Deland, Fla., Annie Lottis of Piedmont, Ala., and Mecie Dillon of Pelham; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

The family may be contacted at the home of Patsy Flowers, 1163 13th St. S.E., Moultrie.

Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.



Beverly Jean Newton

VALDOSTA — Beverly Jean Newton, 58, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cobb Funeral Chapel.
