For Sept. 19

Protocol

“For the sake of appearing to have a little home training, please invite all of your co-workers to eat when cooking a meal in the work place. Some of us spend more time with our fellow employees than we do with our own families, and you certainly wouldn’t cook a meal at home expecting only a chosen few to sit at the table.”

Role model

“This is for all the people who have complained about our high school band: My brother is in the band and he is also a straight A student and a great role model for my son.

“You people apparently have no lives of your own if all you have to do is complain that these kids didn’t stand in the rain to play.

“Did it ever occur to you that maybe they have the common sense to get out of the rain. If you really want to complain about today’s youth, take a look at the police reports and all the kids in there, that’s where the problem lies.”

Well said

“I agree! That was very well put! I think any type of activity whether it is band, football, basketball, choral, etc. is what teaches requirements in today’s work place … teamwork and discipline.

“I was an average student in high school, but I was in the band, and choral, and basketball and softball, and those taught me so much about working as a team. I am well known in my workplace as a team player.”

Band issue

“I think the person who said that the band had a negative influence must not enjoy a challenge. He must not have appreciated the sense of belonging to a group . Groups like this teach teamwork and discipline. These are skills that translate to any future skill.

“As a former team player, I knew that I would never get a scholarship to play, but the skills and friendships that I gained are priceless.”

Thanks

“I want to say thank you to the people here in Moultrie for your encouragement. I’m a Class of ’95 graduate currently serving in the Navy. I just came back from the North Arabian Gulf as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom and upon my return I have received nothing but love. Thanks!”

Need a signal

“We need a turn signal at the intersection of the Adel Highway and Veterans Parkway.”

Tired of seeing it

“I am so tired of seeing people with their children uptown with only their diapers or underwear on. We have to start teaching our children the ways to act in public, along with how to dress. Don’t parents have some pride not to let their kids out that way? It only takes a few more minutes to put clothes on a small child, so go on and do it for goodness sake.”

Embarrassed

“Today I was very embarrassed for my wife when we encountered a young man with his trousers bagging down around his thighs and his underwear showing.”
