Newell D. Lastinger
MOULTRIE — Newell D. Lastinger, 70, of Moultrie died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Autreyville Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy McDonald officiating and the Rev. Marlon Lastinger assisting. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery. The deacons of Autreyville Baptist Church will serve as casketbearers.
Born April 4, 1934, in Colquitt County, Mr. Lastinger was the son of the late Zuleika Alexia Autrey Lastinger and Maston Melgie Lastinger. He was a retired senior forest ranger with the Georgia Forestry Commission and was a member of Autreyville Baptist Church, where he served in various capacities, including deacon, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school director, discipleship training director, executive committee member, youth counselor and VIP chaplain.
Survivors include his wife, Lucile Hart Lastinger of Moultrie; three sons, Michael D. Lastinger and wife Valerie of Morgantown, W.Va., M. Melvin Lastinger and wife Lynn of Tifton and Reggie D. Lastinger and wife Janet of Hiram; one daughter, Yvonne L. Clark and husband Tim of Moultrie; a brother, W. Weldon Lastinger and wife Ruth Ann of Thomasville; and seven grandchildren, Leanna and Jill Clark and Allison, Alexander, Lucie, Lukas and Lyndsey Lastinger.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home.

Fannie Mae Robinson
MOULTRIE — Fannie Mae Robinson, 74, of Moultrie died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Holy Temple Church of God in Christ with Superintendent Paul E. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
Born July 30, 1930, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Robinson was the daughter of the late Marion Harper and Eddie Lee Jones. She attended the Colquitt County public schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ulyssee Robinson Sr.
Survivors include seven children, Dorothy Robinson Jordan and Faye Ashley and husband Prentice, all of Albany, Ulyssee Robinson Jr. and wife Marie, Gregory Robinson and Bruce Robinson, all of Moultrie, Phyllis Bailey and husband James of Savannah and Brenda Mathis and husband David of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Ernestine Hillie of Moultrie; 11 grandchildren, Tharius Robinson, Dawnette Scriven and husband Leonard, Tiffany Nelson and husband Giles, James Bailey II, Dante Robinson, Eric Bailey, Theron Bailey, Printice Ashley, Ulysees Ashley, Brittney Ashley and Bianca Ashley; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

John Lewis Gay
MOULTRIE — John Lewis Gay, 82, of Moultrie died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at his residence.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Newsome officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Donnie Taylor, George McCall, Eddie Sutton, Don Tapp, Jimmy Buckner and Freddie Matthews. Honorary casketbearers will be Kenny Bennett and Chandler Bennett.
Born Sept. 1, 1922, in Polk County, Fla., Mr. Gay was the son of the late Bessie Mock Gay and John Samuel Gay. He was employed with the Moultrie Police Department from 1954 to 1964. From 1965 to 1985 he was the owner and operator of an 18-wheeled truck leased to Refrigerated Transport of Atlanta. Mr. Gay was a member of Autreyville Baptist Church. He was also a longtime member of the local Moose Lodge.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lamar Carter, and three sisters, Cassie Gay Tapp, Rachael Gay DearLove and Kate Gay McMurphy.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Taylor Gay of Moultrie; two sons, Lewis Waylon Gay and wife Joyce and Michael Grant Gay, all of Moultrie; two daughters, Marsha Carter McVay and husband Kenny of Moultrie and Kay Gay Pace and husband Rob of Conyers; a sister, Nell Gay Bateman of Moultrie; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Keigans, Mike Gay, Taylor Gay, Shane Gay, Lori Gay, Hannah Jones Turner and Lane Jones; one stepgrandson, Nicholas Masonoff; several great-grandchildren; and two special friends of 34 years, George and Carmen McCall of Moultrie.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral chapel.

Andrew Randolph “Randy” Haman
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — The Rev. Andrew Randolph “Randy” Haman, 88, of Ormond Beach, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial in Ormond Beach.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. today at Volusia Memorial Park in Volusia County, Fla.
Born Oct. 5, 1916, in Ashburn, the Rev. Haman was the son of the late David Richard Haman and the late Gertrude Pitts Haman. He was a former pastor of several churches in Georgia and Florida, including Memorial Baptist Church in Moultrie in the late 1940s to early 1950s.
He was a graduate of Norman College in Norman Park, Mercer University in Macon, and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans. He became an evangelist in New Orleans and continued to preach revivals until his health began to decline.
While he served as pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville, he was invited to go on a worldwide evangelistic tour with the Billy Graham Crusade. While on the crusade, he visited and preached in Hawaii, Formosa (now Taiwan), Japan, Singapore, Thailand, India, Greece, Palestine, Moscow and a month-long revival in Africa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Little Haman; a brother, David Richard Haman Jr.; and two sisters, Lida Miriam Haman and Dorothy Vivian Ferrell.
Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia Boyett and husband Jim of Ormond Beach; three sons, David Richard Haman III and Walter Joe Haman, both of Palmetto, Fla., and the Rev. Andy Haman and wife Janine of Odum; a sister, Emily Whittington; a nephew, Van Whittington and wife Laurie of Lawrenceville; a niece, LaRae Edwards and husband Cleve of Thomasville; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several other nieces and nephews.
