William Hulan Russell
SUWANNEE, Fla. — William Hulan Russell, 84, of Suwannee, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 18, at the Suwannee Baptist Church in Suwannee. Burial, with graveside services, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Pinecrest Memory Gardens in Moultrie.
Mr. Russell lived in Moultrie most of his life and moved to Suwannee, Fla., in 1982. He graduated from Moultrie High School in 1937 as valedictorian. He was the owner of Russell Furniture Company in Moultrie for 46 years. He was a founding stockholder and served on the Board of Directors at American Banking Company (ABC Bank) in Moultrie before retiring to Suwannee. He was also a councilman in Moultrie for two terms.
Mr. Russell was a master sergeant in the Air Force, where he received a Purple Heart during World War II. He was a member of Suwannee Baptist Church in Suwannee, Fla. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Moultrie Country Club, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and VFW Post.
Survivors include his wife, Miriam Mullins Russell of Suwannee, Fla.; a son, John Floyd Russell of Sylvester; a sister, Vaudell Hancock of Moultrie; a brother, Archie Russell of Moultrie; grandsons, Christopher Russell and Michael Russell; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
Melvin Lowery
CAMILLA — Melvin Lowery, 36, of Camilla died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Beulah Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Bailey Chapel Cemetery in Doerun. Members of American Legion Post 518 will serve as pallbearers.
Born Jan. 14, 1967, in Colquitt County, Mr. Lowery was the son of Vivian Hobbs Lowery and the late Willie Lowery Sr. He was a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Travis Lowery Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Richardson Lowery of Camilla; his mother, Vivian Hobbs Lowery of Doerun; one son, Brandon Lowery of Camilla; one daughter, Yolanda Bigelow of Doerun; three brothers, Willie Lowery Jr. and wife Aliesha of Moultrie, Andra Lowery Sr. of Morgan, and Jeffrey Lowery and wife Jean of Doerun; four sisters, Sylvia Copeland and husband Gary of Doerun, Sara Lowery and Frank of Doerun, Pamela Cox and husband Victor of Moultrie, Kimberly Lowery and Mike of Doerun; a devoted friend, Valerie Sander of Camilla; a father figure, Jesse Robert of Doerun; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family may be contacted at the residence of Mrs. Vivian Hobbs Lowery, 418 Pine Ave., Doerun.

Nancy Vista Morris
AMERICUS — Ms. Nancy Vista Morris, 94, of Americus, formerly of Moultrie, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Westview Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Benton officiating.
Born Sept. 17, 1909, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Morris was the daughter of the late J.H Burroughs and Mamie Turner Burroughs. She was a retired bookkeeper and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Morris, who died in 1968, and a brother, Tom Watson Burroughs.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Ellinger and husband Tom of Venice, Italy, Opal Jackson of Camilla and Shirley Sellars and husband Shelby of Homosassa Springs; five grandchildren, Kathy Ellinger, Sandra Moss, Sanna Clifton, Scott Sellars and Stuart Sellars; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Coy Carlton
MOULTRIE — Coy Carlton, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins.
Arrangements will be announced by Cobb Funeral Chapel.

MOULTRIE — Eugene Clark Jr., 526 Sixth Ave. N.W. died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Arrangements will be announced by Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.
