Naomi Wall Jones

MOULTRIE — Naomi Wall Jones, 88, of Moultrie died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at her residence.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Moultrie, located at 723 Highway 319. Brother Richard Erdody, a Gilead graduate of the Watchtower Missionary School, will officiate. Burial will follow at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Born Feb. 8, 1916, in Cuthbert, Ms. Jones was the daughter of the late Maggie Johnson Wall and Manzie Wall. Warmly called “Mama,” “Little Grandma,” “Aunt Naomi,” “Ms. Jones” and “Miss Daisy,” she lived with her family until her death. She was a retired educator, a 1932 graduate of Tallulah Falls School and a former student at Bessie Tift College for Women, Georgia Southwestern College, Georgia State University and Auburn University. In the 1960s, she and her husband, Jim, lived in Guayaquil and Quito, Ecuador, continuing their evangelizing work as Jehovah’s Witnesses. The two were among the group responsible for forming the first Kingdom Hall in Moultrie in the early 1940s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Tom Jones, and a son, Clifton Jones.

Survivors include a son, Steve Jones and wife Cheryl of Atlanta; two daughters, Theldra Register and husband Mike of Moultrie and Deborah Warcop and husband Ted of Culloden; eight grandchildren, Tom Kinser, Elizabeth Thornton, Paul Kinser, Mark Kinser, Zack Jones, Guen Jones, Joshua Warcop and Deidra Kerce; and 15 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Leah, Hannah, Sarah, Susanna and Phoebe Kinser, Joy, Hope and Emma Thornton, Aaron, Laura and Claudia Kinser, Alexa and Devin Kerce and Ashley Warcop.

Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.



Timothy J. “Tim” Ricks

NORMAN PARK — Timothy J. “Tim” Ricks, 43, of Norman Park died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Tift Medical Center in Tifton.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Baker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Barrett officiating and the Rev. Jimmy Voyles assisting. Burial will follow at Baker Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Casketbearers will be Mike Hampton, Greg Waites, Dennis Waites, Chris Hunnicutt, Anthony Hunnicutt and Andy Lindsey.

Born Sept. 27, 1961, in Albany, Mr. Ricks was the son of Glenn and Lillian Hunnicutt Ricks. He was a senior technician for Exopack and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, O.S. Hunnicutt, Parra-Lee Hunnicutt, Frank Ricks and Bertie Ricks.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Bizzell Ricks of Norman Park; his parents, Glenn and Lillian Hunnicutt Ricks of Norman Park; a daughter, Jessica Ricks Suggs of Norman Park; a brother, Greg Ricks and wife Lynn of Norman Park; a sister, Melissa Ricks Johnson and husband Kyle of Norman Park; a grandson, Hayden Suggs of Norman Park; and five nieces, Jayce Clark, Ashley Clark, Kylie Johnson, Danielle Jackson and Kimberly Ricks, all of Norman Park.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Eric Alderman

VALDOSTA — Eric Alderman, 24, of Valdosta died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Mary V. Coburn

MOULTRIE — Mary V. Coburn, 80, of Moultrie died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Colquitt Garden Manor.

Johnnie Mack Powell

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — Johnnie Mack Powell, 61, of 2341 N.E. 15 Terrace, Pompano Beach, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with burial in Mt. Sinai Cemetery. The Rev. Sammie Hiers will officiate, and family members will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Powell was born Aug. 31, 1943, in Colquitt County to the late Anna Mae Arnold Powell and the late James Lawson Powell. He was pressman supervisor at the Miami Herald, and he was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include one son, Johnnie Mack Powell Jr. of Davie, Fla.; two brothers, William Jackson Powell and James Lawson Powell, both of Moultrie; and one granddaughter, Brittney Powell.

Gilbert Chestnutt

ATLANTA — Gilbert Chestnutt, 101, of Atlanta, formerly of Doerun, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, in Atlanta.
