Jarrett Fred Stringer
CAIRO — Jarrett Fred Stringer, 67, of Cairo died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at his residence.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Pine Park Baptist Church in Cairo with the Rev. David Benton and the Rev. Gordon Cloud officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Al Ward, Jimmy Moore, Jerry Buffington, Greg Willis, Pat McCorkle, Russ Singletary and Don Stringer. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Wells, Tommy Wells, Max Allen, Sam Frazier, Richard Costello and Glenn Humphries; all deacons of Pine Park Baptist Church; and a group of special men who gave of their time on many occasions to minister to Mr. Stringer’s special needs.
Born Feb. 27, 1938, in Grady County, Mr. Stringer was the son of the late Willie Mack Stringer and the late Magdalene Gandy Stringer. He was employed with Air Supply as a warehouse manager and was an active member of Pine Park Baptist Church for 53 years, singing in the choir as well as serving as a deacon and on various committees. He was an inactive member of the Pine Park Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Garland Stringer of Cairo; two daughters, Mellanie S. Benton and husband David of Doerun and Heidi S. Woods and husband David of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, Bill Stringer and wife Lola of Columbia, Mo., and Dan Stringer and wife Betty of Lexington, S.C.; and five grandchildren, Brook Benton and fianc Chad Paige and Whit Benton, all of Doerun, and Tyler Woods, Jarrett Woods and Olivia Woods, all of Norfolk.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Clark Funeral Home in Cairo.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Pine Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 110 Powell St., Cairo, GA 39828 or to Wiregrass Hospice, 432 E. Shotwell St., Bainbridge, GA 31717.

Katie Godwin Cook
MOULTRIE — Katie Godwin Cook, 87, of Moultrie died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at Sunrise Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Emerald Hill Cemetery.
Born Aug. 31, 1917, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Cook was the daughter of the late Jake Godwin and the late Goldie Phillips Godwin. She was a homemaker and of the Freewill Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Felton Cook.
Survivors include a son, James Felton Cook and wife Ellen of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Jean Charlotte Pierce and husband W.R. of Pavo and Lula Faye Wisenbaker and husband Reginald of Valdosta; and four grandchildren, Tammy Denise Crosby Murphy and husband Vick, Tracey LeAnn Cook, Regina Katherine Wisenbaker and Reginald Rex Claus Wisenbaker Jr.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral chapel.

Michael Christopher Ericksen
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Michael Christopher Ericksen, 24, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Sunday, July 31, 2005, in Myrtle Beach.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Michael Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. James Schmidt, Justin Schmidt, John Donnelly, David Donnelly, J. Banks Haley and Samuel Hixon will serve as casketbearers.
Born Jan. 26, 1981, in Mobile, Ala., Mr. Ericksen was the son of Margaret H. Ericksen and Andrew J. Ericksen. He was in sales at Fairfield Resorts and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delphine Ericksen and Mr. and Mrs. J. Reeves Haley.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret H. Ericksen; his father, Andrew J. Ericksen; a brother, Matthew Ericksen; a sister, Mary Ann Ericksen; and a grandfather, Thomas Ericksen.
A rosary service will be held at 7 tonight at the funeral home, followed by a time of visitation.

Vera Ella Weeks Griffin
MOULTRIE — Vera Ella Weeks Griffin, 86, of Moultrie died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at The Golden Apple.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Midway Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Midway Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Darrell Gay, Charles Weeks, Charles Harper, Danny Gay, Brian Gay, Randall Weeks and Stacey Gay.
Born Oct. 7, 1918, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late David Bartley Weeks and the late Mary Emma Greer Weeks. She was a homemaker and a member of Midway Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Little Beverly; a daughter, Joyce Patricia Beverly Walsh; and a brother, Marvin G. Weeks.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Willie J. Griffin Sr. of Moultrie; a son, Cecil Eugene Beverly of Vancouver, Wash.; two brothers, William C. Weeks of Moultrie and Julian Weeks of Valdosta; two sisters, Nona Mae Weeks Sloan and Mary Alice Weeks Magruder, both of Moultrie; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

David Wayne Flanders
LOGANVILLE — David Wayne Flanders, 40, of Loganville died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel in Adel with the Rev. Elbert Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Sparks Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Trina Roundtree Flanders of Loganville; his father, Wayne Flanders of Moultrie; three daughters, Carlee Flanders, Caitlyn Flanders and Cathryn Flanders, all of Loganville; a brother, Travis Flanders of Sale City; a sister, Melissa Roberds of Sparks; a stepbrother, Lee Jones of Okeechobee, Fla.; and a stepsister, Cindy Humphreys of Houston, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
