MOULTRIE — A Moultrie police officer was involved in a high-speed car chase Tuesday morning. The driver of the vehicle and two unknown passengers fled from the vehicle, but the officer was unable to capture any of them.

Police reports said the officer spotted a Dodge Intrepid with an expired drive-out tag on Second Avenue Northwest about 10:05 a.m. Tuesday. The driver looked directly at the officer, the report said; the officer knew the driver and knew he did not have a valid driver’s license and had warrants out for him. The Intrepid sped away from the scene.

The officer began to pursue the Intrepid, and reports said the vehicle turned onto Third Street Northwest and onto First Avenue Northwest. The chase reached speeds between 70 and 80 m.p.h. while on First Avenue Northwest.

The officer turned on his blue lights and requested backup to assist in the pursuit, reports said. The Intrepid ran a stop sign while turning onto Seventh Street Northwest from First Avenue Northwest and then turned onto Joe Louis Avenue and driving at a high rate of speed down the middle of the roadway.

Reports said the Intrepid was parked behind a residence on Joe Louis Avenue, and the driver and two passengers fled from the vehicle on foot. The officer attempted to pursue the occupants but was unable to apprehend any of them.

The officer searched the Intrepid, and reports said it did not have a valid insurance card or bill of sale in it. The officer also found an open container of alcohol inside, and the vehicle was towed away from the scene once the search was completed.

• Kenny Lee Davis, 33, of 1004 Fifth St. S.E., was charged Tuesday with duty to obey an officer.

• Bryant Dewayne Pittman, 22, of 812 Seventh Ave. N.W., was charged Dec. 20 with driving with a suspended license.

• Bobby Dawson, 40, of 669 J.O. Stewart Road, Lot 11, in Norman Park, was charged Monday with disorderly conduct.

Timothy W. Aiken, 20, of 200 Trailer Park Road, Lot 7, was charged Sunday with following too closely and driving with a suspended license.

• Wayne Edward Sheffel Jr., 41, of 54 Forrest Ave., was charged Thursday with violation of oath by a public officer and theft by taking.

• Deborah Sue Kelley, 41, of 3017 Ellenton-Norman Park Road in Norman Park, was charged Thursday with possession of cocaine.

• Jose Santos, 21, of 118 Boura Drive, was charged Sunday with furnishing false information to officers and public drunkenness.

• Jose F. Jimenez, 25, of 180 Trailer Park Road, Lot 14, was charged Friday with failure to maintain lane, DUI and reckless driving.

• Richard Raymond Boulden, 40, of 861 Highway 319 N., was charged Thursday with simple assault.

• David Lee Kelley, 40, of 3017 Ellenton-Norman Park Road in Ellenton, was charged Thursday with possession of cocaine.

• Jose Guillermo Lopez, 21, of 81 Bonura Road, was charged Sunday with driving without a license, no proof of insurance, failure to stop for a stop sign, DUI, duty upon striking a fixture and public drunkenness.

• Shane Star Brown, 23, of 813 Sixth St. S.E., was charged Friday with driving with a suspended license and entering and crossing a roadway.

• Ervin Wayne Johnson, 28, of 118 Lawson Court in Tifton, was charged Dec. 21 with operating a vehicle without a current plate and driving with a suspended license.



Other Incidents

• Robert Jordan reported an unknown person flattened all four tires, scratched the passenger side door and fender and knocked loose the front bumper of his Cadillac Seville while it was parked at Home Depot on North Veterans Parkway Tuesday. Total damage to the vehicle was approximately $1,350.

• A City of Moultrie clerk reported a known female customer used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay her City of Moultrie electric bill Tuesday. The counterfeit bill was collected as evidence by the Moultrie Police Department.

• Phyllis Washington, of Second Street Northwest, reported a male acquaintance broke a window, damaged a Crosley refrigerator, Sunray stove and a Frigidaire washing machine and stole four fuses and a City of Moultrie electric meter Wednesday. Total damage to the residence and the total value of the stolen items was $1,195.

• Julia Ritchie, of Culbertson Road, reported an unknown person stole a Rossi .38-caliber pistol from her residence Tuesday. The value of the stolen pistol was $300.

• Joey Thomas, of Erve Williams Road, reported an unknown person stole an Ingersall 3/8-inch impact wrench, a transmission jack and a 3.5-ton floor jack from his yard between 7 a.m. Dec. 22 and 11:47 a.m. Monday. The total value of the stolen items was $2,720.

• Wallace Hurst, of Highway 319 North in Norman Park, reported an unknown person damaged support poles and the roof of his shelter while attempting to park a trailer under it between 11 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Total damage to the shelter was unknown at the time of report.

• Gina Brown, of Sylvester Highway, reported an unknown person stole a Blaupunkt CD player from her Dodge Intrepid between 6 p.m. Sunday and 2 a.m. Monday. The value of the stolen CD player was $300.

• Shawn Brown, of Robin Lane, reported an unknown person stole a Sanyo DVD player from his residence between 7 a.m. Thursday and 7 p.m. Saturday. The value of the stolen DVD player was approximately $1,000.

• Cronzalo Chavez, of Cedar Street, reported an unknown person stole a silver necklace, a DVD player, an Orion watch, 20 Spanish DVD’s, Starter tennis shoes and a suitcase with various papers inside between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday. The total value of the stolen items was $500.

• Tony White, of Edward Warren Road, reported an unknown person stole a Dewalt miter saw, a Bowlens weed eater, a Skill 12-amp saw, a Bench Top 150-piece tool set, an air tool set, a Craftsman sawall, a 100-piece bench tool set and a tool set between 6:30 a.m. Saturday and 6:30 p.m. Monday. The total value of the stolen items was unknown at the time of report.
