MOULTRIE — A native of Moultrie, Ozie Bell Jackson Adams, will return home along with several other class members of 1954, 1955 and 1956 of Moultrie High School for Negro Youth.

Jackson-Adams will be the keynote speaker at the Maroon and Gray Banquet Saturday, the second day of activities of the Class Reunion 54, 55, 56. The president of the reunion, Jim Yates, expects class members from as far away as California, New York, Connecticut and Ohio to attend the four-day affair. The reunion, which meets every two years, will begin tonight with a get-acquainted reception at Bentley’s Restaurant and end with a reunion picnic Monday, July 7, at the Willie Frank Ryce Community Center.

A graduate of the class of 1956, Jackson-Adams earned the title of valedictorian and many other distinctions. She was named Miss Moultrie High School for Negro Youth, Miss Homecoming, Miss New Homemaker of America and Pan Hellenic Queen. She was also a member of the Charles Richard Drew National Honor Society, dramatics, Verse Choir, oration contests, French and New Homemakers clubs, and the student council.

After high school, she graduated cum laude from Clark College in Atlanta with a bachelor of arts degree in English with double minors in library science and French. She went on to earn a master of science degree in library science from Atlanta University and an educational specialist degree in library technology from Georgia State University.

Jackson-Adams has held various positions including cataloging librarian at Cornell Medical College Library in New York City, reference librarian at Clark College, English teacher at William Bryant High School in Moultrie, and library media specialist for Atlanta Public Schools.

Ozie Bell and Herbert Adams Sr. are parents of three children, Herbert Adams Jr., Michael S. Adams and Herschelle Adams, and have two grandchildren, Michael and Matthew.

The Maroon and Gray Banquet will be held at the Colquitt County Agricultural Complex.
