Mildred Lee Mathews
PAVO — Mildred Lee Mathews, 95, of Pavo died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Sunrise Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at Pavo Baptist Church with the Rev. J.E. Moak, the Rev. Larry Harris and the Rev. Roger Benton officiating. Interment followed at Lebanon Cemetery in Pavo. Wavell Robinson, Jim Jackson, Wayne Thompson, Levy Hall, Beverly Beaty and Roy McMillan served as casketbearers.
Born Aug. 12, 1911, in Worth County, Mrs. Mathews was the daughter of the late Ammie Hart Lee and the late Millard Jeffery Lee. She was a homemaker and was a member of Pavo Baptist Church, serving as pianist and organist for 67 years. She was a 1928 graduate of Barwick High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Daniel Mathews Sr.
Survivors include a son, Dan Mathews and wife Claudra of Pavo; a daughter, Helen Beard and husband Cecil of Moultrie; three grandchildren, David Beard and wife Jo Beth, Amanda Arnold and husband Jim and Joseph Mathews and wife Lydia; and five great-grandchildren, Abby Beard, James Arnold, Evan Arnold, Annie Arnold and McCullough Mathews.
The family may be contacted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Beard, 13 Woodridge Road in Moultrie.
