MOULTRIE — Police investigating unrelated charges last Thursday twice found those being investigated with alleged illegal drugs . Both incidents took place within an hour of each other.
The first incident took place as agents from the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office and Moultrie Police were recovering alleged stolen items from a residence on Ninth Avenue Southeast around 4:11 p.m. Thursday.
After arriving at the scene, reports said three men, Kenny Davis, Derrick Ryles and Daniel Lewis, were arrested for outstanding warrants. A fourth man, Bobby Wayne Vaughn Jr., ran from the scene.
Reports said deputies chased Vaughn and caught up to him at the intersection of Eighth Avenue Southeast and Eighth Street Southeast. A search of Vaughn found a loaded Phoenix Arms .22-caliber handgun, five “dime” bags of suspected marijuana and crack cocaine.
Vaughn, 32, of 1416 Ninth St. S.W., was charged with possession of arms by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana with intent, possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, criminal use of an altered identification, carrying a pistol without a license and obstruction, reports said. The five bags of marijuana had a street value of $50.
The other incident occurred about 4:46 p.m. Thursday during a routine traffic stop. Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a Cadillac for an equipment violation and ran a check on the driver.
Reports said the driver, Alvin Spindola Arnold, of 208 Sixth Ave. S.E., had his driver’s license suspended for possession of a controlled substance. When the deputy learned this, Arnold was placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license.
A search of the vehicle by the deputy found a large Ziploc bag with four smaller bags inside, investigative reports said. The four smaller bags had a substance the deputy suspected to be marijuana, which weighed approximately 174.1 grams.
Arnold was charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, the reports said. The marijuana found inside the vehicle had a street value of about $400.
