Lepech takes first in Kentucky meet

MOULTRIE — Moss Farms Ali Lepech took first place in the 14-15 girls platform event on Friday in the Kentucky Diving Invitational.
The Diving Tigers nearly took two gold medals in the first day of the three-day meet, being held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington, Ky.
Anna Aguero finished second in the 16-18 girls platform competition, scoring a 303.25 and finishing just 1.45 points behind winner Danni Ridgway of U.S. Elite Diving, who had a 304.65.
Lepech scored a 274.00 to win the 14-15 girls platform event over Tennessee Diving’s Victoria Lamp, who scored a 271.85.
Moss Farms’ Ann Perry Blank was fourth in the platform, scoring a 262.00
Two other Moss Farms divers also competed in the 14-15 girls platform event.
Kelsey Goodman was eighth with a 218.05. Jillian Braun was 10th with a 193.95.
The only other Moss Farms diver to compete on Friday was Elizabeth Ann Kirkland, who was 11th in the 13-and-under girls platform event.
Carly Shepler of Cincinnati, Ohio’s Tri-State Diving won the event with a 254.30.
Kirkland was back in the water on Saturday to compete on the 1-meter board.
Lepech, Blank, Goodman and Braun took part in the 1-meter competition on Saturday.
Aguero and Moss Farms teammate Maddie Qurnell competed in the 16-18 girls 1-meter event on Saturday.
The results from the Saturday events were not available at press time.
The meet concludes with several events today.
