Three earn All-Region in cross country

MOULTRIE — The top six finishers in the boys and girls races in Region 1-AAAAA cross country meet have been named as members of the all-region team.

That group of 12 includes three members of the Colquitt County High cross country team.

Tyler Dismuke, who finished fourth in the boys race, and Carlos Charles, who finished in a tie for fifth, were the two Packers to earn All-Region designations.

Dismuke, who also played on the ninth-grade football team this fall, turned in a time of 17:47.

Charles was two seconds back and tied with Jordan Randall of Houston County at 17:49.

Carly Banks, who finished sixth in the girls race, represents the Lady Packers on the team. She finished with a time of 22:31.

Dismuke and Banks are freshmen. Charles is a sophomore.

The Region 1-AAAAA cross country meet was held Nov. 1, in Warner Robins.

Region meet host Warner Robins had four runners on the elite teams.

The boys team also includes Marc Kushinka, Warner Robins, first, 17:17; Karl Burkhardt, Warner Robins, second, 17:43; and Frankie Rios-Maldonado, Houston County, third, 17:43.

Brittney Stewart of Warner Robins won the girls race with a 19:32.

She was followed by Megan Breitbach, Houston County, 21:04; Kelly Murray, Tift County, 21:27; Kierston Wharton, Houston County, 21:28; Danielle Atkins, Warner Robins, 21:39; and Banks.

Banks finished 81st at the state meet in Carrollton with a 21:50. Charles was 95th with an 18:12 and Dismuke was 122nd with an 18:43.
