Ola Cone Matthews

MOULTRIE — Ola Cone Matthews, 92, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, July 20, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dewey Stalvey officiating assisted by the Rev. Saunders Pinckard. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery with Lavon Stripling, Billy Tillman, Reggie Holden, Sonny Dampier, John Rowley and Kenny Bennett serving as pallbearers.

Born Aug. 9, 1913, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late Minnie Lee Gandy Cone and the late George Washington Cone. She was a homemaker and a farmer and was a member of Evelyn United Methodist Church. She was a 1933 graduate of Moultrie High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Wayne Matthews; a daughter, Janice M. Law; and a son-in-law, Buddy Bullard.

Survivors include daughters, Frances Bullard of Moultrie, Thresia Williams and husband Bill of Rome, Ga., and Carol Palmer and husband Bobby of Moultrie; eight grandchildren, Cindy L. Harrell, Mariea D. Law, Robin Bullard, Alisha Fletcher, Darren Williams, April McIntosh, Neali McRae and Toby Palmer; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be tonight, July 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.



Myrtice Baker Harrod

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Myrtice Baker Harrod, 94, formerly of Norman Park, died Monday, July 17, 2006, in Montgomery, Ala.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Barksdale officiating assisted by Donald Harrod. Burial will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery in Norman Park with Richard Watkins, Pierce LeFevre, Chuck Harrod, Patrick Harrod, Ben Fuller, Keith Wood, Stan Sherlin and Chris McAlpin serving as pallbearers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Harrod; a brother, Homer Baker; and sisters, Marie Roberts, Lettie Mae Woods and Emma Booth.

Survivors include her sons, Donald Harrod and wife Carolyn of Norman Park and Stanley Harrod and wife Becky of Norman Park; daughters, Delores Watkins and husband Jim of Adamsville, Ala., and Brenda LeFevre of Montgomery, Ala.; a sister, Lorene Smith and husband Tommy of Oxford, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be tonight, July 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

Savannah Marissa Linsley

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Savannah Marissa Linsley, 6-1/2 mos., died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dion Brown officiating. Burial followed in Buck Creek Cemetery with Frank Joseph Rodela and Dennis Shelton Jr. serving as pallbearers.

Born Dec. 25, 2005, in Duval County, Fla., she was the daughter of Angela Nichole Shelton Linsley and James Neil Linsley of Jacksonville, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her twin, Jamie Clarissa Linsley, and her great-grandparents, Wilford and Marie Slaughter and Brenda Carline Linsley.

Survivors include a brother, Anthony Tyler White of Meigs; a sister, Haylie Brenda Marie Linsley of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandparents, Beverly Rickman Linsley and friend Don Ewing of Jacksonville, Fla., Michael Linsley and wife Kimberly of Jacksonville, Fla., Dwight May and Irene of Norman Park and Dennis Shelton Sr. and wife Cindy of Moultrie; great-grandparents, James K. Linsley of Ochlocknee, Glenn Williams and wife Lynne of Marion, Ind., and Charles Rickman of Asheville, N.C.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
