Wendy’s picks up pair of farm league wins

MOULTRIE — Wendy’s won the completion of a game suspended by rain and then won a regularly scheduled game on Friday at the Magnolia Sports Complex to raise its Farm League record to 10-2.
In the game that was started on Monday, Wendy’s built on an 11-1 lead and defeated Southwest Georgia Bank 16-5.
Austin Mercer had four hits; Tristin Frazier, Gabe Mobley, Isaac Hall and Dalton Dillon each had three; and Alex Pate, Hunter Kimble and Cambrick Taylor each had two for Wendy’s.
Cason Wells had three and Warren Funderburk, Samuel Smith and Charlie Zeanah each had two for Southwest Georgia Bank.
After finishing off Southwest Georgia Bank, Wendy’s knocked over Ameris by a 9-5 score on Friday.
Frazier, Mercer, Mobley, Dalton and Micah Edwards each had two hits for Wendy’s, now 10-2.
Garrett May, Will Roberts and Elijah Gomez each had two hits for Ameris.
Southwest Georgia Bank bounced back from its loss to Wendy’s to defeat Farm Bureau 14-2.
Daniel Mobley and Taylor Duke each had three hits and Colby Reneker, Ben Shiflett, Quint Pitts, Warren Funderburk, Charlie Zeanah and Samuel Smith each had two for Southwest Georgia Bank, now 10-2.
Jay Tolbert had a pair of base hits for Farm Bureau, now 4-8.
In Tiny Mites on Friday, Quality Employment downed Larry’s Bait and Tackle 6-5 and Southwest Georgia Bank defeated Mobley Plant 8-5.
Three of the top teams in the Midget League were in action on Friday.
Market Barbecue and Southwest Georgia Bank both raised their records to 8-2 with victories.
Market Barbecue pounded Davis Insurance 17-8.
Andrew Eunice was the winning pitcher and Jim Harrison and Anthony Brumbley had two hits each for Market Barbecue.
Dustin McAlpin, Daren Kent, Alex Littleton and Tyler Reynolds each had two hits for Davis Insurance, now 3-7.
Skyler Lindsey pitched Southwest Georgia Bank to a 5-3 victory over Harper-McCall.
Corey Moore had two hits for Southwest Georgia Bank. Bryce Giddens, Tyler Snipes and Jordan Williams each had two hits for Harper-McCall, which falls to 7-2-1.
