Colquitt County’s Steve Johnson ran Monday’s Boston Marathon in 3 hours, 9 minutes and 43 seconds.

It was Johnson’s third appearance in the world’s most challenging and well-known 26.2-mile race.

Two other Colquitt County runners — Jimmy Allegood and Amy Sharon — and ran at Boston and turned in identical times of 3 hours, 29 minutes and 53 seconds.

Johnson and Allegood have already qualified to run the Boston Marathon in 2007.

This year’s Boston Marathon drew 22,517 runners.

Of this and that:

• Chad Eunice had 12 birdies and shot a Sunset Country Club course-record 60 on Friday.

Eunice was playing with Grady Clements and Jon Ladson.

• Also at Sunset Country Club, Frank Morgan had a hole in one on the 167-yard No. 2 hold on March 30.

Morgan, who was playing with Jimmy Taylor and Bill Pifer, used a 7 iron.

• Former Colquitt County baseball star Jake Mobley, now starting for Georgia Southwestern, took a .317 batting into the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament that opened Wednesday in Americus.

The senior infielder leads the Hurricanes with 12 doubles. He also has a triple and a home run and has driven in 17 runs.

The Hurricanes took a 30-21 overall record and a 20-10 conference record into the tournament.

Georgia Southwestern met Berry College at 1 p.m. Wednesday in one of the four tournament-opening games.

• And for die-hard high school football fans, there is now a website that is full of information about Georgia teams. It is the Georgia High School Football Historians Association site, located at www.ghsfha.org.

On it, visitors can find scores for all Georgia high school teams dating back to 1970, region standings back to 1954, region champions back to 1948, all-state teams dating back to 1950, weekly state rankings back to 1952, a list of every NFL player who went to a Georgia high school and about 90 percent of all Georgia coaches and their win-loss records back to 1970.

The non-profit site is not associated with the Georgia High School Association.

• The South Effingham High baseball team defeated Burke County 8-7 in eight innings on Tuesday to raise its record to 15-4 this season.
