MOULTRIE — The Class AAAAA girls state soccer tournament bracket shown on the Georgia High School Association’s website shows Colquitt County traveling to Morrow for its first-round match.

That’s a typo.

Instead, Lady Packers coach Jimbo Jarvis is taking his team to Stone Mountain on Thursday for a 5:30 p.m. meeting with Stephenson High.

The Lady Packers finished third in Region 1-AAAAA requiring them to travel to meet the No. 2 team from Region 2-AAAAA.

The Lady Jaguars will be playing at home and have an 11-1 record. Their only loss came by a 6-1 score to Region 2-AAAAA champion Newton County.

Stephenson is riding a four-game winning following that loss. The Lady Jaguars opened the season with a seven-game winning streak.

The Lady Jaguars have outscored their opposition 86-14 this season and count on one player for most of their offense.

“We are just going to try to contain that girl and play our game,” Jarvis said. “We will have Jessie Williams keep an eye on her.

“And they don’t give up many goals.”

Colquitt’s girls will take a 12-5 overall record into the match, but lost their last two matches, to Houston County and Tift County.

Those losses dropped the Lady Packers to 6-4 in the region and a third-place finish.

Jarvis will send out a lineup that will have senior Kaitlyn Price, who will continue her soccer career at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C., next season, in the nets.

In front of her on defense will be Maria Bautista, Jessica Williams, Brianna Campbell and Alex Smith.

Jessica Vick, Sha Wetherington, Whitney Hood and Kristin Hall will be the midfielders.

Up front, the Lady Packers will feature Sarah Tyndall and Alba Hernandez.

Hernandez, a freshman, is the Lady Packers leading scorer, with 27 goals. Wetherington, also a senior, has 12 goals.

Hall, a junior, has 11.

Bautista, Wetherington and Hood are the team’s other seniors.

The Lady Packers were eliminated in the first round of the state tournament last year by Glynn Academy by a 3-0 score.

In other first-round matches featuring Region 1-AAAAA girls teams, region champion Tift County will play host to Tri-Cities; region runner-up Houston County will be at home to meet Lithonia; and No. 4 seed Lowndes will travel to Newton.

In first-round boys soccer matches, Region 1-AAAAA champion Houston County will play host to Tri-Cities; region runner-up Valdosta will be at home to meet Stephenson; No. 3 Lowndes will go to Morrow; and No. 4 Tift County will travel to Newton.
