MOULTRIE — Six Moss Farms divers are in Connecticut this week to attempt to qualify for next month’s Spring East Championships.

Eight more Diving Tigers will go to Islamorada, Fla., on April 8-9 for their bids to qualify for the championships.

The East Championships will be held April 28-30 at the Blodgett Pool at Harvard University in Boston, Mass.

Because it has several divers in a number of age groups, Moss Farms coach Ron Piemonte elected to send his divers to separate Regional championships. The top six divers in each event will qualify for the East Championships.

“The kids are doing real well,” Piemonte said this week before heading off to Connecticut. “They are coming off a good meet. The kids did some good things in the Georgia All-Star Meet.

“They were ready for this meet a couple of weeks ago.”

Anna Aguero, Ryan Helms, Owen Blank, Ann Perry Blank, Jillian Braun and Leah Piemonte will compete in this weekend’s Region 1 event, which will be held at the Freeman Athletic Center on the campus of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.

Aguero is in the girls 16-18 age group. She will be in the 40-girls 1-meter competition at 3 p.m. today and in the 30-girls 3-meter event at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Helms and Owen Blank will be in the boys 16-18 age group.

They will dive in the 17-entry 3-meter event at 3 p.m. today. The 1-meter competition will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. It will have at least 23 entries.

Braun and Ann Perry Blank, in the 14-15 girls age group, will dive 3-meter at 12:45 on Saturday and 1-meter at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Leah Piemonte will dive in the 11-and-under age group. She will dive 1-meter at 7:15 tonight and 3 p.m. at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Audrey White, Elizabeth Ann Kirkland, Ali Lepech, Kelsey Goodman, Erin Goodman, Maddie Qurnell, Staci Howard and Jacob Russell will compete in the Region 7 championships to be held April 8-9 at Founders Park at Islamorada, Fla.
