MOULTRIE — The University of Georgia’s Hannah Moore has been selected as the Southeastern Conference Female Diver of the Week for her performances in the Georgia Fall Invitational.

The former Colquitt County and Moss Farms diver was second on the 1-meter springboard and was third on 3-meter in the event.

Moore scored a 282.60 on 1-meter and a 304.90 on 3-meter, both season-bests.

Chris Colwill, Moore’s Georgia teammate, was named the SEC Male Diver of the Week for the fourth time this season.

“It’s always an honor when your athletes are recognized,” Georgia diving coach Dan Laak said. “To get two honors in the same week is very special. Chris and Hannah both had great invitationals and we are very proud of them.”

The divers will be off until Jan. 3 when Georgia plays host to the Georgia Diving Invitational.

Of this and that:

• Johnson C. Smith University’s Vanessa Taylor was named CIAA Women’s Basketball Coach of the Week. It is Taylor’s second Coach of the Week honor already this season.

The Colquitt County Sports Hall of Fame member, who is in her seventh season as the Lady Golden Bulls head coach, guided her team to a 52-47 upset of Elizabeth City State University on Nov. 27, her first win over the Vikings at the R.L. Vaughan Center since she left Elizabeth City State in 2001.

• Former Packer Andy Harden, now the head boys basketball coach at Worth County, has his Rams sporting a 3-0 record as it prepares for tonight’s game at Thomas County Central.

Worth has shown steady improvement under Harden, winning one game his first year, three his second and 10 last season.

Now in his fourth season, he says of his players: “They can be a good as they want to be. And they are great kids. There are kids on this team that I’d let babysit my children.”

Can the Rams win the Region 1-AAA championship?

“We’ve got a chance,” Harden said.

• Former Packer John Michael Hall scored 10 points and had three rebounds as Drake University defeated Iowa State 79-44 on Wednesday.

The victory was the fourth in a row for the Bulldogs, who are now 6-1.
