Harold Loyd Roberts

MOULTRIE — Harold Loyd Roberts, 75, of Shady Grove Road in Moultrie, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with burial at Bridge Creek Cemetery. Elder C.A. Blanton and the Rev. Randy Jackson will officiate. Casketbearers will be David Morse, Lynn Morse, Tony Morse, Mike Morse, Jeremy Davis and Steve Seagroves.

Mr. Roberts was born June 6, 1931, in Colquitt County, son of the late Susie Barwick Roberts and the late Alfred Roberts. He retired as supervisor of the Waste/Water Department of the City of Moultrie. A member of Bridge Creek Primitive Baptist Church, he served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Ann “Diddie” Jeffery Roberts of Moultrie; two daughters, Tina Brooks and husband Robert of Pelham and Angie Spires and husband Oscar of Norman Park; six grandchildren, Lena Mercer and husband Brady of Moultrie, Maleah Seagroves and husband Steve of Jacksonville, Fla., Tina Bullard and husband Lee of Moultrie, Missy Davis and husband Jeremy of Pelham, Selena Brooks of Pelham and Michael Spires of Norman Park; 11 great-grandchildren, Charles Mercer, Nathan Mercer, Alana Mercer, Garrett Seagroves, Gracie Seagroves, McKenzie Davis, Levi Davis, Heather Davis, Oscar Bullard, Abby Bullard and Addison Bullard; two brothers, Vernon Roberts and Theron Roberts, both of Moultrie; and two sisters, Jean Morse and Virginia Snipes, both of Moultrie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Roberts; and a granddaughter, Heather Brooks.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.



Irene Beatrice Bass Fowler

MOULTRIE — Irene Beatrice Bass Fowler, 95, of Moultrie, and formerly of Durham, N.C., died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Woodlands Living Center.

Graveside rites were 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham, N.C.

Cobb Funeral Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.



Jimmy Wallace Watson

SYLVESTER — Jimmy Wallace Watson, 52, of Sylvester, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Kimball United Methodist Church with burial at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. The Rev. Tim Oliver and the Rev. Jerry Cooper will officiate.

Mr. Watson was born Oct. 19, 1954, in Colquitt County but lived in Worth County most of his life. He was the son of the late James Julian Watson and Nettie Grubbs Watson Lewis, and he was a Methodist.

Mr. Watson was an attorney, a real estate developer, and the owner and founder of JWIC. He enjoyed flying his own plane, playing golf and taking his family and friends on cruises. He was a member of the International Harley Riders Association. A graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Valdosta State College, he received his juris doctorate from the University of Georgia. He was an avid UGA football fan who attended all of the home and bowl games that he could. He was a member of the Georgia Alumni Association and the Albany and Jacksonville, Fla., Bulldog clubs. After the death of his mother, he continued her tradition of representing the Minton Community Club at fair booths and parades throughout Southwest Georgia.

Mr. Watson was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Experimental Aircraft Association, the State Bar of Georgia Association and the Tifton Bar Association. A member of the Worth County-Sylvester Chamber of Commerce, he also belonged to the Worth County Touchdown Club and was a supporter of all sports. He was also a member of the Worth County Farm Bureau, AARP and the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Culpepper Watson of Sylvester; children, James J. Watson and wife Mary Beth of Moultrie, Jeffery M. Watson of Anderson City and Janice Brady Price and Jake Brady, both of Sylvester; and grandchildren, Mary Grace Watson and Abby Price.

The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today, Jan. 14, at Banks Funeral Home.

Cleo Jackson

MOULTRIE — Cleo Jackson, 66, of Fifth Avenue Southeast in Moultrie, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.
