Moore first on 1-meter against LSU

Former Colquitt County and Moss Farms diver Hannah Moore continues to perform well as a freshman at the University of Georgia.
In a recent meet against LSU, Moore placed first on the 1-meter springboard and was second on 3-meter.
The meet was the third of the season for the Georgia divers. In her first collegiate meet, Moore was first on 3-meter and was fourth on 1-meter when Georgia met North Carolina.
In her second meet, she turned in second- and third-place finishes against Arkansas
The Georgia swimming and diving team was at home on Thursday to take on Florida.
Of this and that:
n Former Colquitt County soccer player Will Phillips is continuing his collegiate career, playing this season for Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus.
A junior, Phillips is playing midfield and defense for the Hurricanes.
Phillips previously played at Thomas University.
n Former Colquitt County and Abraham Baldwin basketball player John Michael Hall scored 20 points as the White team defeated the Blue Deam 101-82 in the Drake University men’s first public intra-squad scrimmage last Sunday.
Hall, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound junior, made 10-of-12 shots, including his first seven to start the game.
Drake, located in Des Moines, Iowa, will open the 2007-2008 season on Nov. 9-10 in the St. Mary’s Tipoff Classic in Monaga, Calif., playing UC-San Diego and St. Mary’s.
The Bulldogs’ first home game will be on Nov. 14 against Cornell (Iowa).
n Will Southwell batted .357 this fall for the Georgia Southern baseball team with just six strikeouts in 46 at bats.
The former Packer batted .338 last season with two doubles, one home run and 17 runs batted in.
Teammate Aaron Eubanks, also a former Packer, was 3-5 last year with a 4,32 ERA. He had 51 strikeouts in 66.2 innings.
The Eagles open the 2008 season on Feb. 22-24 with a home series against Boston College of the ACC.
n The Darton College women’s soccer team, which includes former Lady Packer Sha Wetherington, is 16-0-1 and will play South Georgia College in a region semifinal today at Young Harris.
n The Columbus State University women’s basketball team, which includes former Lady Packer Ashley Stafford, will open its 2007-2008 season on Nov. 16 in the CSU Tipoff Classic against Lees-McRae.
n Former Packers Matt Smith and Aaron Elrod are members of the Darton College men’s golf team.
Jason Flowers, who formerly played at Darton, is playing at Valdosta State.
n Dorothy Strong is starting her sophomore season for the Darton College women’ basketball team.
The Lady Cavaliers open on Nov. 2 against North Florida in the Darton College Classic.
