MOULTRIE — Moultrie police apprehended an alleged burglar Thursday morning with the help of two citizens.
A juvenile boy was charged with burglary.
Robert Phelps reported he and his wife pulled up to a house on East Central Avenue at 11:26 a.m. Thursday. He saw a black male, later identified as the boy, leave the house and run between two mobile homes.
Phelps and a witness told an officer they chased after the suspect and brought him back to the house. When the officer arrived, the boy stated he went inside the house because he saw an open door and heard voices inside.
A window was found opened, which is the alleged point of entry.
When the homeowner, Avel Teal, and the officer went through the house, they found several jars of change, cash and gold necklaces missing. The total value of the reported stolen items was about $925. More items may be missing, but Teal did not know until speaking with others who lived at the house.
The boy was placed under arrest and taken to the Moultrie Police Department. It was not known if the items reported stolen were recovered.
