4 teams tied atop Midget League

MOULTRIE — The Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department’s Midget League will go into tonight’s schedule at the Magnolia Complex with each of its teams having played seven games.

And in a rare bit of parity, four of the teams are tied atop the standings with 5-2 records and two more are 4-3.

Southwest Georgia Insurance and Zaxby’s won their games on Tuesday and join Market Barbecue and Mobley Plant in a four-way tie for first place.

Southwest Georgia Bank also won on Tuesday to run its record to 4-3 and tie it with Davis Insurance for second place.

Southwest Georgia Insurance got its fifth win on Tuesday by defeating Davis Insurance 9-4.

Dillon Frazier was the winning pitcher and was backed by three hits from Preston Berry and two each from Coleman Neal, Tyler Yost and Clay Carter.

Daren Kent had three hits and Eli Stripling added two for Davis Insurance.

Zaxby’s had little trouble with Edwards Motors, winning via a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Drew Penuel was the winning pitcher and contributed two hits. Daniel Mobley also had two hits.

Edwards Motors falls to 0-7.

Southwest Georgia Bank climbed above the .500 mark after an 8-7 victory over Harper-McCall.

Colby Reneker was the winning pitcher. Eric Gould, Andy Bush and Andrew Carlton each had two hits for Southwest Georgia Bank, now 4-3.

Mack Hathcock had two hits for Harper-McCall, now 2-5.

Tuesday’s games at the Magnolia Complex featured the first two tie games of the season.

In one of the two Farm League games, Wendy’s and Farm Bureau played seven innings, but could not break a 4-4 deadlock and both team now have 4-1-1 records and are tied for third place.

Timothy Clay had two hits for Wendy’s. Austin Lassetter had three and Hart Sumner and Max Carr each had two for Farm Bureau.

In Tuesday’s other Farm League game, Lazarus shut out Ameris 3-0.

With the victory, Lazarus is alone in second place in the Farm League with a 5-2 record, trailing only 6-0 Custom Cabinets.

Ameris falls to 3-4.

In Tuesday’s Tiny Mites schedule, Larry’s Bait and Tackle shut out Winn Dixie 19-0 and Rocky’s and Mobley Plant battled to a 7-7 tie. Larry’s Bait and Tackle is 6-0 and

Baell Mercantile 4-0 to lead the Tiny Mites standings. Mprints is 4-2.

Quality Employment of the Pony League will take a 5-0 record into today’s 6 p.m. meeting with Southwest Georgia Bank.
