Tommy Moore

ADEL — Tommy Moore, 68, of Adel, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Memorial Convalescent Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the chapel of Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. A.J. Hall will officiate.

Among Mr. Moore’s survivors are his mother, Laura Bryan Moore of Adel; a son, Bryan Moore of Adel; and a daughter, Toni Moore of Adel.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 26, at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home on Highway 41 South in Adel.

Wynder “Stem” Giles

LIZELLA — Wynder “Stem” Giles, 86, of Lizella, formerly of Moultrie, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Murphy with burial in the Murphy Cemetery. The Rev. Donnie Sloan will officiate. Casketbearers will be Clint Giles, Aaron Goff, Jerry Giles, Chris Meadows, Melvin Sloan, Billy Craig, Jesse Goff and Logan Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Barr, Johnny Shiver, Rex Jenkins, Charles Mercer and Melvin Tucker.

Mr. Giles was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Colquitt County to Ave Giles and Ella Tucker Giles. He was a Baptist. A veteran himself, he was formerly in charge of the Veterans Administration Office in Moultrie. In addition, he had served as commander of the Colquitt County Veterans of Foreign Wars and commander of the state VFW, and he was quartermaster for VFW. He was assistant fire chief of Spence Field Air Base, and he helped found Green Oaks Center.

He was preceded in death by both of his wives, Dorothy C. Giles and Clara S. Giles; a brother, O.L. Giles; and two sisters, Kathleen Galloway and Loudella Sloan.

Survivors include one son, Larry Giles and wife Diane of Brunswick; two daughters, Dottie Rhea Goff and Tonia Rae Rowland, both of Moultrie; two sisters, Ruby Hiers of Quitman and Edna Meadows of Moultrie; seven grandchildren, Clint Giles of Brunswick, Lori Hughes of Blackshear, Aaron Goff of Moultrie, Kimberly Craig of Statesboro, Patricia Leigh York of Doerun, Suzanne Shoffeitt of Valdosta and Gerrie Rae York of Bainbridge; and 12 great-grandchildren, John Garrett, Alyssa, Lucas, Sierra, Will, Kortney, Jesse, Emily, Tony, Logan, Sara Catherine and Bailey.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 26, at Baker Funeral Home.

Ottis Lloyd Jones

PELHAM — Ottis Lloyd Jones, 55, of Pelham, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Lakeside Assembly of God in Moultrie. The Rev. Steve Comer will officiate.

Mr. Jones was born Sept. 22, 1951, in Sylvester to Flora Gunn Bolmer of Ellenton, Fla., and the late Raymond Homer Jones. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a teacher with the Dougherty County School System and was a member of Lakeside Assembly of God.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Irmgard S. Jones of Pelham, who he married Jan. 8, 1971; two daughters, Patricia Ann Jacobs of Cairo and Barbara Michelle Castleberry of Pelham; his mother, Flora Bolmer of Ellenton, Fla.; two brothers, Raymond E. Jones of Miami, Fla., and Rodney Glenn Jones of Boston, Ga.; a sister, Patsy Martin of Bradenton, Fla.; and his grandchildren, John Michael Jacobs Jr. of Cairo, Martina Michelle Jacobs of Cairo and Dylan James Watson of Pelham.

Alphonso Knighton

MOULTRIE — Alphonso Knighton, 36, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.
