Rain plays havoc with sports schedules

MOULTRIE — The heavy rains that moved through South Georgia on Thursday and Friday played havoc with weekend sporting events involving Colquitt County teams.
The Colquitt County baseball team’s scrimmage against Thomasville, scheduled for Friday, has been canceled.
The Packers will open their season on Tuesday at Madison County, Fla.
The Colquitt County High tennis teams were scheduled to open their seasons on Thursday at home against Lowndes.
Those matches now will be played at 4 p.m. Monday at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex.
The tennis Packers and Lady Packers also were scheduled to play in the Bainbridge Rotary Tournament on Friday and today. That event was cancelled by the rain.
The Colquitt County junior varsity soccer teams were schedule to meet Coffee this morning. Those matches have been postponed. No makeup date has been announced.
The middle school soccer teams matches at Hahira scheduled for today also were postponed.
No date for making up those matches has been announced.
