Huante wins two events in Tift County swim meet

MOULTRIE – Colquitt County’s Hannah Huante won the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke events at a varsity swim meet held Oct. 26, in Tifton.
She also was on the 200-yard freestyle relay team that placed second and the 200-yard medley relay team that was third.
The Lady Packers were second overall and helped lead Colquitt to a fourth-place overall finish in the meet, which was won by Tift County.
Swimmers from Camden County, Pierce County, Thomas County Central, Lowndes, Tiftarea Academy and Valdosta also competed.
Also on the runner-up 200-yard freestyle relay team were Hannah Bryant, Gracie Strickland and Claudia Tyson.
The 200-yard medley relay team included Huante, Strickland, Bryant and Ella Rose Briones.
Bryant turned in a pair of bronze medal-winning performances in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke events.
Briones finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle.
Also competing for the Lady Packers were Daelyn Greeson, Emmie Conn, Marina Perez and Leila Hall.
Jacob Medders was the only member of the Colquitt County boys team who competed and he took a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.
