Local tennis players compete in Bainbridge

MOULTRIE — Bo Blalock, Chason Forehand, Andrew Harvin, Carli Hester, Ansley Moore, Brandon Oaks and Ricky Patel of Moultrie played in the Bainbridge Junior Championship tennis tournament held last weekend.
In the boys 16s division, Blalock won his quarterfinal match by default against Xavier Bell of Bainbridge, lost his semifinal match against Jamie Davis of Hazelhurst 3-6; 3-6; and lost his playoff match against Andrew Harvin 0-6; 5-7 to place fourth in the tournament.
Forehand lost his quarterfinal match against Joseph Bjerregaard of Leesburg 0-6; 0-6 and lost his consolation match against Braden Anglin of Camilla 1-6; 1-6.
Harvin won his quarterfinal match against Braden Anglin of Camilla 6-3; 6-4, lost his semifinal match against Joseph Bjerregaard 7-5; 4-6; 6-10, and won the playoff match against Bo Blalock 6-0; 7-5 to place third in the tournament.
Oaks lost his quarterfinal match against Jamie Davis of Hazelhurst 4-6; 2-6, won his first round consolation match against Xavier Bell of Bainbridge 6-1; 6-0 and lost the second round consolation to Braden Anglin 1-6; 1-6.
Ricky Patel played in the boys 14s division, winning his quarterfinal match against Hema Hasona of Bainbridge 6-2; 5-7; 10-6. He won his semifinal match against Cody Carden of Meigs 2-6; 6-0; 10-2.
He lost in the finals to Christopher Paschal of St. Simons Island 2-6, 1-6 and placed second in his age division.
Carli Hester played in the girls 18s division in a round robin with Katie Monson of Climax. She lost the first round 4-6; 1-6 and the second round 5-7; 2-6.
Ansley Moore played in the girls 14s division and lost her quarterfinal match against Caroline Champion of Tallahassee, Fla., 0-6; 1-6; won her first round consolation match against Rosalie Jeffery of Columbus 6-1; 6-0 and lost her second round consolation match to Kristen Monson of Climax 3-6; 0-6.
In Boys 16 doubles, Andrew Harvin teamed up with Jamie Davis of Hazelhurst to win over the all-Moultrie team of Bo Blalock and Brandon Oaks by a score of 8-6.
