Weekend roadblock nets several arrests

MOULTRIE — The Moultrie Police Department made several traffic-related arrests Friday night during a road check. The road check was set up at the intersection of Highway 133 South and Sardis Church Road.

The check began about 9 p.m. and officers remained there for about two hours. In that time, they found at least five people driving who should not have been and were placed under arrest.

Those who were arrested at the road check were:

• Bernabe Perez Perez, 18, of 15 Regency Village, was charged with driving without a license.

• Manuel Ribera, 26, of 45 Grassy Flat Lane in Pavo, was charged with driving without a license.

• Van Antonio Arnold, 43, of 2274 New Statenville Highway in Valdosta, was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license (second offense) and furnishing false information to police.

• Vann Earl Smith, 51, of 4579 N. Woodlake Lane S.E. in Conyers, was charged with DUI, and

• Mary Carmen Chavez, 28, of 516 Highway 133 S., was charged with driving without a license and three counts of a seatbelt violation.
