Good luck to Lori

Dear editor:
The Moultrie Observer is losing a reporter, and Colquitt County is losing a friend. After 10 years of covering local events, Lori Glenn is moving on.
With her daughter, Sevaan, at her side, Lori has kept the public informed of everything from crime to education to county government. She has become a champion of causes such as domestic violence awareness. Most importantly, she has become my friend.
When I joined the Observer for my three-year stint, Lori, as the seasoned reporter, became my sounding board for questions and problems. We quickly became friends, and that friendship was cemented when we realized that our families went way back. Poor Dwain Walden never bargained on two reporters from Mitchell County!
Now Lori is preparing to leave Colquitt County, and even Georgia, for new adventures. It’s very sad to think I won’t be able to pick up the phone, dial that familiar number, and talk to her on a whim. I won’t have an ally in the newsroom if I need one. Come October, my son won’t have his traditional Halloween photo with Sevaan.
Thanks, Lori, for the great stories you’ve given Colquitt County in the last 10 years, and for your dedication to this town. But mostly, thanks for your friendship! I wish you and Sevaan much happiness and success in your new endeavors.
