Moore wins NCAA Zone diving championship

MOULTRIE — University of Georgia diver Hannah Moore qualified for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with her fourth-place finish on the 1-meter springboard at Zone competition on Friday.

But the freshman from Moultrie was even better on Saturday at the Jame E. Martin Aquatics Center at Auburn University, winning the 3-meter zone title.

Moore finished first with a 647.95, easily outdistancing the University of Tennessee’s Lauren Leroy, who had a 625.85.

Brittany Viola of Miami was third with a 609.40.

The NCAA Championships will be held next Thursday through Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.

Moore will be qualified to dive on both springboards and on tower at NCAAs.

Moore was second in the 1-meter prelims on Friday behind South Carolina’s Taryn Zack, who finished first in the finals.

In the finals, Moore was fourth with a 558.30, just .65 behind Viola, who was third.

Moore was first in the 3-meter prelims on Saturday with a 324.85 and did not let up in the finals.

She had a comfortable 24-point lead over Leroy and a 33-point lead over Viola heading into her final dive.

The Moss Farms diver finished third on 3-meter at the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships last month, coming in behind Leroy and Rachel Ware of LSU. Moore was sixth in the 1-meter competition at the SECs.
