10 Packers named
to All-Region baseball team

MOULTRIE – Ten Colquitt County players have been named to the All-Region 1-6A baseball team.
Selected for the first team are senior first baseman Jake
Walker, sophomore third baseman Bryce Roberts, senior center fielder Brady DeRosso, senior catcher Hayden Hembree and pitchers Bowen DeRosso, a sophomore, and Cook Tompkins, a senior.
Senior shortstop Adam Beverly, senior left fielder Rylan Howell, senior pitcher Cole Holder and sophomore catcher Carter Summerlin were named to the second team.
Ryan Page, who led Lowndes to another region championship, was named the region’s Coach of the Year.
Tift County’s John Davis was the Player of the Year.
Aiden Pluff of Richmond Hill and Brinson Roundtree of Lowndes were the co-Pitchers of the Year.
Valdosta’s Braeden Lampkin was the Defensive Player of the Year.
Walker led the Packer in hitting with a .372 batting average and in doubles with 10. He also drove in 21 runs.
Roberts batted .333 and drove in 14 runs.
And while not selected for the All-Region team as a pitcher, Roberts worked 39.1 innings and was 3-2 with a 2.14 earned run average.
Brady DeRosso batted .344 with six doubles, two triples and a home run. He drove in 17 runs and led the Packers with 24 runs scored.
Hembree was selected as a first-team catcher, but also started games at second base.
He hit .278 with seven doubles and 10 RBIs.
Bowen DeRosso posted a 5-3 record in 12 starts. In 49.1 innings, he struck out 44 batters and walked just 14. He posted a 3.55 ERA.
Tompkins started 10 games for the Packers and went 4-2 with a 3.74 ERA.
He threw the best game of the season for the Packers, 2-0 region shutout of Richmond Hill in which he allowed just two hits.
It was the first seven-inning shutout for a Colquitt County pitcher since Mason Moore threw a no-hitter against Valdosta in 2023.
Summerlin had an excellent sophomore season, hitting .348 while leading the Packers in runs batted in with 23.
In just 66 at bats, he had six doubles, two triples and a team-leading two home runs.
Howell hit .352 with three doubles and 10 RBIs.
Beverly led the Packers in at bats, with 101, and hits, with 33. He hit .327 and scored 22 runs.
Holder appeared in 17 games, all in relief, and had a 3-0 record and a 5.35 ERA.
Also named to the All-Region first team were infielders Will Johnson of Camden County, Drew Hembree and Mason Grist of Tift County, Eli Howard and Tony Berry of Richmond Hill; outfielders Lee Johnson of Richmond Hill, Coleman Lewis and Matthew Kerrigan of Lowndes and Tyler Vansumeren of Tift County; pitchers Garrett Moon and Ryan Whitley of Tift County; and catcher Noah Burnham of Lowndes.
Also named to the second team were infielders Matt Bounds of Valdosta, Conner Gilkey of Richmond Hill and Fabian Laboy of Camden County; outfielders Heath Davis of Lowndes, Landon Parrish of Tift County, Stephen Little of Valdosta and Preston Conrad of Camden County; pitchers Dru Inman of Lowndes, Will Pridgen of Tift County and Landon Walker of Richmond Hill; and catcher Grant Wagner of Richmond Hill.
