Colquitt notes: Allegood
continues strong season

MOULTRIE – Former Lady Packer Emily Allegood is continuing her excellent sophomore softball season at Florida SouthWestern State.
Primarily playing third base, Allegood is hitting .425 with seven doubles, two triples, two home runs and 15 runs batted in for the 33-1 and top-ranked Buccaneers.
She also is 1-0 in two appearances in the circle.
On Saturday, March 29, she went a combined 5-for-6 with three runs batted and a stolen base in a doubleheader sweep of No. 19 Eastern Florida.
Of this and that:
• Colquitt County junior Jae Lamar is ranked as the No. 7 running back in the Class 2026 according to 247’s composite rankings.
Lamar is the 94th ranked player overall nationally.
Among the programs he is considering is Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Florida State, Miami and Tennessee.
• The Colquitt County soccer teams will attempt to get back in the win column when their seasons continue with Senior Night games against Fitzgerald on Tuesday, April 8.
The Lady Packers are 5-9 overall and 3-5 in Region 1-6A after losing 3-2 to Worth County and 9-0 at Camden County last week.
The Colquitt County boys are 8-5 overall and 4-4 in the region.
The Packers defeated Worth County 11-1 last week, but fell in penalty kicks on Friday at Camden County.
The match was tied 1-1 after regulation, but the Wildcats won going 3-1 in penalty kicks.
After the matches with Fitzgerald, Colquitt will play Camden County at home on Friday, April 11 and finish with road contests at Veterans on April 15 and at Lowndes on April 18.
JT Whatley leads the Thomas University baseball team n runs batted in with 21.
The former Packer infielder is hitting .319 with seven doubles and three home runs.
Pitcher Gavin Steptoe is 1-1 with 6.26 ERA. He has struck out 13 batters in 23 inning for the Night Hawks, who are 12-22.
• Mercer right-handed pitcher Jeb Johnson has a 3-1 record with a 3.91 ERA for the Bears.
The former Packer, who won his first start of the the season in a recent 9-3 win over Florida State in Tallahassee, has made 12 appearances for Mercer, including two starts.
• Sophomore Carliss Johnson is averaging 11.3 points and 4.0 assists for the 20-9 Albany Tech women’s basketball team.
