Spivey, girls relay team earn
gold medals in Fitzgerald meet

FITZGERALD – Narayan Spivey won the boys high jump event and the girls 4×800-meter relay team also earned a gold medal to lead Colquitt County in the March 11, track meet at Fitzgerald High.
The meet also drew teams from Clinch County, Crisp County, Dodge County, Hawkinsville, Perry, Turner County, West Laurens and Fitzgerald high schools.
The Lady Packers 4×800 relay team ran a 12:27.24. The team included Blakelee Lehman, Marley Kelley, Melissa Breedlove and Se’Myiah Lewis.
Spivey won the high jump with a leap of 5-feet, 10-inches.
Arbashaun Curry, Spivey’s Colquitt County boys teammate, got the silver medal in the event with a 5-foot, 6-inch jump.
Also taking a second-place finish for Colquitt County girls was Marley Kelley, who had a 4-foot, 2-inch high jump.
The Colquitt County boys 4×400 relay team also turned in a second-place finish.
Earning bronze medals were MiJoy Richardson, girls 200-meter dash; Melissa Breedlove, girls 1,600-meter run; Blakelee Lehman, girls 3,200-meter run; Ty’yona Revels, girls 300-meter hurdles; and the girls 4×200-meter relay team of Fremoria Ponder, MiJoy Richardson, Shaniyah Bell and Ty’yona Revels.
Placing fourth were Melissa Breedlove, girls 800-meter run; Marley Kelley, girls 1,600-meter run; Kimmora Ponder, girls 100-meter hurdles; Kendall Covin, boys 400-meter dash; Markeverin Graham, boys 110-meter hurdles; and Arbashaun Curry, boys long jump.
The Colquitt County track teams will be in action next on Wednesday, March 19, when the Lady Packers and Packers play host to a 4 p.m. meet at the high school.
Other schools scheduled to compete are Brooks County, Coffee, Lowndes, Mitchell County, Pelham, Terrell County, Thomas County Central and Valdosta.
