THOMASVILLE – The Colquitt County middle school golf teams took second-place finishes on a blustery Thursday at Thomasville’s Country Oaks Golf Course.
Davis Hall shot a 73 to lead the Baby Packers.
Wesley Allen shot an 83, his lowest round of the year.
He had turned in a 93 his last time out.
“He has put a lot of work in since the last tournament,” coach Hunter Daughtrey said.
The Packers also got an 84 from David Herndon.
Ches Redding’s 90 rounded out the Packers’ 330, which was good for second place.
Coffee was first with a 314.
Hall’s 73 was tied for the low score, but he lost by one shot in a playoff to finish as the runner-up low medalist.
Also playing for the Packers on Thursday were Charlie Newton, who shot a 94, his low round of the year, and Carter Bridges, who had a 95.
Seven members of the middle school girls team competed on Thursday.
The Lady Packers were led by Blakely Hatcher, who shot a 48, and Bailee Duke, who turned in a 50 for a team score of 98.
Also playing for the Lady Packers were Raylee Plymel, Lyla Wilson, Marley Jo Wilson, Blakely Collins and Allie Mobley.
The middle school teams are scheduled to play again on Monday, March 10, in the Coffee Cup at Douglas Golf and Country Club, weather permitting.
On March 17, Colquitt will travel to River Pointe Golf Club for a tournament sponsored by Lee County.
The region tournament is scheduled for Monday, March 24, at Sunset Country Club.
