Colquitt, Tift County split
region tennis matches

TIFTON – The Colquitt County and Tift County tennis teams split a pair of matches on Tuesday in Tifton.
The Lady Packers got a pair of wins at singles and took No. 1 doubles to defeat the Lady Devils 3-2.
Julia Costin defeated Tift’s Riley Griffin 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Emily Lampman also won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
Tift’s Sutton Sheppard needed three sets to defeat Colquitt County freshman Allie Rowley 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
At No. 1 doubles, Colquitt’s Ada Craft and Jayley Johnson won 6-3 , 6-6(2-7), 6-3.
Laura Gonzales and Jaelyn Wier lost 2-6, 3-6 at No. 2 doubles.
Tift’s boys took down the Packers 4-1.
Colquitt’s Jack Taunton fell at No. 1 singles to Josh Hellman 1-6, 4-6.
At No. 2 singles, Bailee Fountain lost to Maitrey Patel 0-6, 1-6.
And Harrison Lampman fell at No. 3 singles to Tift’s Elijah Hellman 1-6, 0-6.
The Blue Devils also won at No. 1 doubles with Seth Denham and Matt Layfield winning over Ty Hurst and Josh Scroggins 6-1, 6-6 (7-4).
The Packers got their lone point at No. 2 doubles where Banks Flowers and Parker Anderson defeated Jack Medina and Adam Beck in three sets 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
The Packers and Lady Packers will play next on Friday, February 28, when they travel to Kingsland to meet Camden County.
