MG’s compete in Kupets Pink meet in Savannah

MOULTRIE — The Moultrie MG’s traveled to Savannah, Ga. to compete in the annual Kupets Pink Invitational Gymnastics Meet.
The competition hosted 3,700 gymnasts from 23 states.
The Xcel Silver team competed on Friday in the second session. Olivia Eubanks, in the JR B age division, placed 4th in the All Around with a score of 37.125. She also placed 3rd on vault, 9.6 and tied for 6th on beam, 9.125.
Katie Poblete Morris, age division JR B, placed 9th in the AA with a score of 36.575. She placed 4th on vault, 9.575 (personal best), tied for 3rd on beam, 9.3, and tied for 1st on floor, 9.55.
Whitley Bozeman, age division JR B, placed 13th in the AA with a score of 35.825. She tied for 6th on bars, 9.325, and tied for 3rd on beam, 9.3.
Katie Goble, age division JR A, placed 4th in the AA with a score of 35.475. She placed 3rd on beam, 8.875. Lexi Miller, age division JR A, placed 5th in the AA with a score of 35.275. She placed 3rd on vault, 9.275, and 4th on beam, 8.55.
Jaceleigh Smithwick, age division JR C, placed 5th in the AA with a score of 36.775. She placed 5th on vault, 9.4, 9th on bars, 9.25, 6th on beam, 9.075, and 7th on floor, 9.05.
Alyssa Howell, age division JR C, placed 8th in the AA with a score of 36.3. She tied for 8th on vault, 9.2 (personal best), 5th on bars, 9.375, and tied for 10th on floor, 8.8.
Melanie Lopez, age division JR C, placed 13th in the AA with a score of 35.975. She had a personal best on vault, 9.05, 7th on beam, 9.05, and tied for 10th on floor, 8.8.
Brantlee Majors, age division JR C, placed 15th in the AA with a score of 35.00. She had a score of 9.075 on vault and a 9.175 on bars.
Allegra Porteus, age division SR A, placed 17th in the AA with a score of 35.525. She had a personal best on bars with a score of 9.2.
Naomi De La Cruz, age division JR C, placed 10th in the AA with a score of 36.65. She placed 1st on vault, 9.7 (MG Record and personal best), tied for 9th on bars, 9.3, and 5th on beam, 9.2.
“We thought the girls had a great competition.This was a large meet for them and they did well under the pressure of being at such a huge competition,” said coaches Katheryn Eubanks and Haley Goble.
The Xcel Gold team competed in the third session on Friday.
Julianne Carson, age division JR B, placed 12th in the AA with a score of 34.775. She placed 5th on bars, 9.025, and 5th on floor, 9.35 (personal best).
Kinsley Kelley, age division JR B, placed 17th in the AA with a score of 33.175. She scored a 9.125 on floor.
Ava Solanki, age division JR A, placed 14th in the AA with a score of 34.7. She placed 8th on bars with a score of 9.0.
“I am proud of the girls. This is the biggest meet they have ever attended and it can be overwhelming. Iella Key and Raley Merritt got sick and had to be scratched from the meet. We are hoping they’re better by the next meet,” said Coach Becky Reagan.
The Level 6 girls competed in the final session on Friday.
Kayla Scroggins, age division 17-18, placed 1st in the AA with a score of 34.45. She placed 1st on vault, 8.95, 1st on bars, 7.45, 1st on beam, 8.8, and 1st on floor, 9.25.
Kayla also went back on Saturday for the senior recognition where she received a Kupet’s Pink Invitational jacket.
Eliza Jane Reagan, age division JR C, placed 15th in the AA with a score of 34.15. She scored an 8.85 on vault and an 8.95 on floor.
Nataleigh Bryant had to be scratched due to illness.
“Hopefully by our next meet the girls will be well and ready to compete. We will be traveling to Panama City Beach for the Sea Turtle meet. We will go back and start working toward improving for the meet,” said Coach Dawn Harvell.
The Level 4 team competed in the first session on Saturday.
Joselyn Juarez, age division SR B, placed 7th in the AA with a score of 35.475. She placed 7th on vault, 9.2 (personal best), 4th on beam, 9.2, and 8th on floor, 8.725.
Lylah Anderson, age division SR B, placed 13th in the AA with a score of 33.075. She scored an 8.225 on bars and an 8.4 on floor.
Kenya Poblete Morris, age division SR A, placed 9th in the AA with a score of 34.20. She placed 3rd on vault with a score of 9.3 earning her an MG record and a personal best.
“These girls have worked extremely hard on improving their routines. There are a few things that we will tweak this next week to be ready for the next meet,” said Harvell.
