ADEL — An accident in Cook County Friday resulted in the death of a teenager.

An ATV was heading south in the west ditch of Antioch Road while a second vehicle was heading south on the same road, a Georgia State Patrol statement said.

The ATV tried to cross the road, turning in front of the second vehicle, the statement said.

The driver of the second vehicle tried to avoid a collision but could not, and that car struck the ATV, which wound up underneath a trailer the other vehicle was towing, the state patrol said.

The second vehicle wound up striking a tree.

The driver of the ATV — Robert Gray, 17 — was declared dead on the scene, the patrol said.
