Lady Packer tennis wind wildcard match

MOULTRIE — Beating Richmond Hill 3-0 in the wildcard game, the Lady Packer varsity tennis team won their spot in the upcoming region tournament.
Dominating their matches from the first serve were the doubles team of Carolyne Turner and Candace Moses with final set scores of 6-1; 6-0.
When Turner and Moses on their match, it was the first point for the Lady Packers.
Following suit were Emily Lampman and Ada Craft, both playing singles.
Lampman, with set scores of 6-1; 6-2, gave the Lady Packers the second point needed.
Finally, Craft won her match 6-3; 6-2 for the final point in Lady Packer’s victory.
The last two matches for the Lady Packers were stopped once it was impossible for Richmond Hill to make a comeback.
Julia Costins split the first two sets 1-6; 6-4 and was heading into the tiebreaker when the match concluded.
Doubles team of Jayley Johnson and Laura Gonzales were also stopped during a tie breaker.
The score was 3-3 after splitting the first two sets 3-6; 6-1.
“I am so proud of these girls,” said head coach Amber Day. “They knew the stakes coming into the match and they rallies and just outplayed them.”
The Lady Packers are playing in the region tournament April 11 at 9 a.m. at Packer Park.
