MOULTRIE — The Moultrie Service League held its annual spring luncheon on May 1 at the Moultrie Arts Center to honor the outgoing executive board and install newly elected officers.

The class of 2016 was commended for achieving sustaining status. The membership also recognized the organization’s numerous accomplishments over the past year, including exceeding annual fundraising goals thanks to the generous support of sponsors and the leadership of President Alicia Sims.

The League is eager to continue its mission of supporting the Moultrie Arts Center and promoting art education to the children of Colquitt County, the organization said in a press release about the luncheon. Among many service projects throughout the past year, the Kaleidoscope Museum was open to all second- and fourth-grade students for a day filled with art history and art projects instructed by director Kathy Nelson. Additionally, an educational traveling art museum rotated through all elementary schools in the district.

Each year, the Moultrie Service League bestows two awards at the spring luncheon. The first is the Service Award, honoring a member who embodies the principles of service set forth by the founders and has demonstrated exemplary support of the League’s efforts. Rachel Herndon was recognized with this award. The second award is the President’s Bowl Award, bestowed by the outgoing president to the member who has exceptionally supported the president in her leadership. This was awarded to Julie Posey.

Emily Watson, a sustaining member of the Moultrie Service League, installed the 2024-25 officers, which included Megan Taylor, president; Julie Posey, vice president; Dale Rickett, recording secretary; Anne Swartzentruber, corresponding secretary; Laura Tyler, treasurer; and Alicia Sims, ex-officio.
