MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man was hospitalized after a law enforcement pursuit Thursday.
Around 2:33 p.m., Georgia State Patrol troopers were patrolling on Lanier Road in Colquitt County when they saw a blue four-wheeler; there had been reports recently of a stolen four-wheeler, according to a patrol statement released Monday.
The driver fled when troopers tried to stop the vehicle. The pursuit went into a home yard and a peanut field west of Ga. Highway 33; the four-wheeler’s rider made a turn in front of the patrol cruiser and hit the right bumper, overturning, the patrol said.
The driver fled on foot but was apprehended by a K9 unit after a brief chase.
EMS was notified for injuries the subject — a 44-year-old Moultrie man — had sustained from a bite. Subsequently he had to be taken to Atrium Health Navicent hospital in Macon.
Troopers have filled out the paperwork for warrants, but the judge has not yet signed them because the suspect is still in the hospital, a GSP spokesman said Monday.
