Oratorical contest for youth to be held at the Northwest Youth Center in March

MOULTRIE — The Women’s Federated Club of Moultrie and the Colquitt County NAACP are partnering with the Moultrie Colquitt County MCCPRA to host the “Speak It, Say It, Tell It” oratorical contest on March 9, at the Northwest Youth Center.

There will be an initial interest/participation meeting at 5 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 1, at the Ryce Community Center, 305 7th St. NW. Then, speech preparation meetings will be held every Thursday until March 7, at the same location from 5 to 7 p.m.

Awards will include $100 and a medallion for First Place winners, $50 and a trophy for Second Place winners and $25 and a ribbon for Third Place winners. Grade level groups include 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th.

The “Speak It, Say It, Tell It” event will be held at the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center on Saturday, March 9, starting at 10 a.m.

Speeches can be interpretive, which include famous speeches, poems and writings or original which include persuasive speeches, raps and spoken word.
