Deadline to register to vote in General Election approaching

MOULTRIE – Georgians will go to the polls on Nov. 5 to vote for the next president of the United States. To be one of them, citizens must be registered to vote by Oct. 7.

Early voting and absentee by mail voting is offered to those who do not want to wait until Nov. 5 or cannot make the election date to vote at their polling site.

Individuals can apply for an absentee ballot by mail now. County Registrar Paula McCullough’s office will start mailing out absentee ballots on Oct. 7 and the last day the office can mail out absentee ballots will be Oct. 25. All absentee ballots must be returned by Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.

Early voting starts on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and ends on Friday, Nov. 1, Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Colquitt County Courthouse Annex in Room 201.

To register to vote, visit the Georgia Secretary of State’s office website page. The site offers online registration and a registration form that can be printed out and mailed in, if preferred.
